Village of Grantsburg 316 Brad Street South Grantsburg, WI 54840 Plan Commission Meeting Minutes The Village Plan Commission met on Monday, August 11 at 3:30 p.m. in the Village Board room, 316 Brad St S, Grantsburg, WI 54840. Present: President Rick Lindberg Trustee Greg Peer Members: Angie Anderson, LuAnn Ebersold, Brent Blomberg, Others: Director of Public Works John Erickson Trustee John Addison Tyler Myers & Abby DeWitt, The 101 Lofts Others: Jon Richards Absent: Member: Natalie Finch, Tyler Myers (presenting as applicant) President Lindberg called the Plan Commission Meeting to order at 3:40 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Public Hearing – The 101 Lofts, LLC (Tyler Myers & Abby DeWitt) Conditional Use Application to have residential dwelling units on the first floor of 101 W Madison Avenue. President Lindberg called the Public Hearing to order at 3:42 p.m. Deputy Clerk/Treasurer Longhenry read the Public Hearing Notice. President Lindberg asked for anyone wishing to speak in favor of the conditional use application. Applicant Tyler Myers provided overview of the proposed project. He would like to have 3-4 residential dwelling units on the first floor of 101 W Madison Avenue. Tyler indicated the portion of the building fronting the street will remain commercial to comply with Village ordinance. Others present who spoke on behalf of the project included Jon Richards representing both a neighboring business, Northwestern Electric Company, and Grantsburg’s Industrial Development Corporation. Jon supported the proposed use for 101 W Madison Avenue sharing the community needs more rental options to support local business growth and felt Tyler has been successful with other projects including multiple rental properties and his local gym ownership and expects the same standard with this new project. President Lindberg asked for anyone wishing to speak against the conditional use application. No one spoke. President Lindberg closed the public hearing at 3:46 p.m. The commission asked Tyler if there were specific commercial use plans for the property. Tyler shared ideas of potential commercial use but was clear no final decision has been made yet. He indicated if such use required further approvals, he would approach the Plan Commission as required. Member Blomberg asked Deputy Clerk/Treasurer Longhenry if there was any correspondence from the public prior to the meeting. Longhenry indicated that notices were mailed to all adjoining and adjacent properties to 101 W Madison Avenue and one call was received from Henry Meuwissen, owner of 111 W Madison Avenue. Mr. Meuwissen had concern that due to the age of buildings downtown, they are not sprinkled, and he felt the risk for fire is greater in residential units which he feels poses risk to all businesses connected on the south side of W Madison Avenue. Meuwissen did not wish to attend the meeting or send representation otherwise. Motion by Member Blomberg, second by Member Anderson to recommend the Village Board approve the Conditional Use Application submitted by The 101 Lofts, LLC (Tyler Myers & Abby DeWitt) to have residential dwelling units on the first floor of 101 W Madison Avenue (parcel 07- 131-2-38-19-14-5 15-810-042000). Motion carried unanimously. Minutes from December 9, 2024, Plan Commission meeting. Motion by Member Anderson, second by Member Ebersold to approve the minutes as submitted.
