Village of Grantsburg 316 Brad Street South Grantsburg, WI 54840 Public Safety Committee Meeting Minutes The Village Administration Committee met on Monday, April 28 at 2:00 p.m. in the Village Board room, 316 Brad St S, Grantsburg, WI 54840. Present: Chairman/Trustee Greg Peer Trustee John Addison Trustee Sam Campeau Others: Clerk/Treasurer Sheila Meyer Chief Jared Woody Police/Office Admin Assistant Larissa Lee President Rick Lindberg Chairman Peer called the Public Safety Committee Meeting to order at 2:00 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Property Maintenance Questions and Review. Clerk/Treasurer Meyer informed the committee that one complaint regarding 420 N Pine St was received in the mail and one natural lawn request was received. Both items will be added to next meeting’s agenda. Chief Woody reviewed the property maintenance citation process for the new committee members. He indicated the process is working well but would like to implement a few procedural changes. He requested that letters notifying property owners of violations allow for 30 days to fix rather than 15 days. With this change, all properties will be reviewed at each meeting so the properties can have quicker follow-up. Chief Woody asked the committee if properties that were being reviewed in 2024 would start fresh or continue with the ticketing process. The committee agreed those properties that had received citations will continue in the process, while those who had not received a citation can start fresh in 2025. Chief Woody also asked the committee how they would like other property maintenance issues handled like chipping paint, structural issues, broken windows, etc. Trustee Addison asked what goal the committee was trying to achieve, was it a focus on beautification or safety. It was indicated that cleaning up town was the initial intent, but safety is always a focus. The committee agreed that the police department should focus on the structural items causing safety concerns first. Motion by Trustee Addison, second by Trustee Campeau to approve notices to include 30 days to fix cited issues and include an invitation to the next Public Safety Committee meeting. Motion carried.
