Village Board of Trustees Meeting
Monday, October 13, 2025
The Board of Trustees for the Village of Grantsburg met on Monday, October 13, 2025, at 4:00
p.m. in the Village Board Room, 316 S. Brad Street, Grantsburg, Wisconsin.
Present: President Rick Lindberg, Trustee Greg Peer, Trustee Leo Janke, Trustee Hank Java,
Trustee John Addison.
Others: Police Chief Jared Woody, DPW John Erickson, Deputy Clerk/Treasurer Allison
Longhenry, Library Director Lynett Yoerg, Greg Marsten-Burnett County Sentinel, Andrew
Dahlberg-Northwestern WI Electric Company (NWE), Kim Korhonen, Julie Branstad, Brent
Blomberg
Call to Order. President Lindberg called the Village Board meeting to order at 4:00 p.m.
Clerk/Treasurer Meyer conducted roll call. The pledge of allegiance was recited.
Appearance. Andrew Dahlberg, NWE, notified the Board that their tree clearing operation would
be moving into the Village in November. Letters will be sent to Village residents notifying them
of the maintenance schedule. Vegetation encroaching within the power line right-of-way will be
removed by mowing and trees will be trimmed as needed. President Lindberg asked if owners
would have the option of having trees taken down rather than trimming? Dahlberg indicated they
will work with homeowners to comply with their wishes.
Public Comments. No one appeared.
Correspondence. Included in the Trustee packets were the monthly project update report from
S E H, and Golf Financials
Minutes. President Lindberg asked if there were any changes, corrections or additions to the
minutes presented from the following 2025 meetings: September 15th Administration
Committee; September 15th Village Board; September 23rd Administration Committee;
September 29th Special Village Board; October 6th Administration Committee; October 8th Public
Safety Committee; October 8th Administration Committee. None were proposed. Minutes were
accepted as presented.
Bowmar Appraisal, Inc. Motion by Trustee Addison, second by Trustee Java to approve
the three-year contract for assessor services with Bowmar Appraisal, Inc. for years 2026,
2027, and 2028. Motion passed unanimously.

STAFF REPORTS
Public Works Director DPW Erickson informed the Trustees of items happening since the last
board meeting including fall street sweeping, hydrant flushing, and the completion of the
James/Johnson project.
Police Chief 1) Chief Woody presented his incident report and graph for September, informed
the Trustees that Jerome Hoyt was offered a pay increase by his current employer and will be
staying in his current position at Glenwood City, and asked that an employment ad be placed in
area papers looking for a new Police Officer. The Board agreed to placing ads in various papers
and on necessary websites.
2) National Night Out report. Chief Woody reported great participation in NNO this year. An
expense report for NNO was presented showing a total of $3,080.29. The Grantsburg Fire
Department will be billed for $1,080.29.
Clerk/Treasurer C/T Meyer presented the licenses and permits report showing multiple
building permits, an operator’s license, and three license extensions issued since the last
meeting. The cash report with a checking account balance of $70,508.59 after all vouchers are
paid, and a Treasury account balance of $1,058,190.17.
Library Director Yoerg presented the library report showing a recap of September
programming and several programs scheduled for October. Yoerg reported Polk County will be
getting e-circulation money and she will be contacting them for details.
Chamber of Commerce President Lindberg reported on the next Chamber meeting is
scheduled for Tuesday, October 14th in the Village Board room.
Fire Association President Lindberg reported the 2026 budget for the Fire Department was
worked on at the most recent meeting.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Public Safety Committee. 1) Property Maintenance. Trustee Peer reported 13 property
reviews took place with several receiving citations. Ordinances regarding abandoned houses
and businesses will be reviewed at the next meeting on November 13th at 9:00 a.m.
Administration Committee. 1) Burnett Dairy lease. Motion by Trustee Java, second by
Trustee Janke to approve an airport land lease with Burnett Dairy Cooperative for
planting grass/alfalfa crops and spreading whey on Grantsburg Airport property, 13284
County Rd D, for a three-year term starting January 1, 2026 and ending December 31,
2028, with the first-year rent being $4,000 and increasing 4% each year thereafter. Motion
passed unanimously.
2026 Budget. The Trustees reviewed draft budgets for 2026. Motion by Trustee Addison,

second by President Lindberg to the 2026 budgets, as presented, for publication. Motion
passed unanimously.
Motion by Trustee Addison, second by Trustee Janke to set the 2026 Budget Hearing for
5:00 p.m. on November 10, 2025. Motion passed unanimously.
Bills Motion by Trustee Janke, second by Trustee Java to approve payment of the bills as
presented:
Checks #36657-36702 $381,811.21
Payroll vouchers V9706-V9745 $37,936.16
ACH/EFTPS payments $92,129.19
Total $511,876.56
Motion passed unanimously.
Trustee reports, concerns… Trustee Peer asked if NWE might be willing to trim the trees
along W. Olson Drive.
Adjournment The Village Board meeting was adjourned at 4:54 p.m.
