SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING
CANVASS OF ELECTION RESULTS
SEPTEMBER 2, 2025
The Greenville City Council convened in the Council Chamber of City Hall on Tuesday,
September 2, 2025, at 12:00 Noon for a Special Called Meeting of the City Council. Proper
notice of this additional Council Meeting was given to all councilmembers and media
officials on August 28th, was advertised on the city’s website, and by the local newspapers
and radio station.
Mayor Dexter McLendon called the meeting to order. City Clerk-Treasurer Dee H.
Blackmon called the roll and recorded the following members present: Mayor McLendon,
Councilmembers Bryan Reynolds, Ed Sims, Jae’Ques Brown and Boris Thigpen.
Councilmember West was out of town. Mayor McLendon led those attending in the
Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag. Councilmember Brown delivered the
invocation.
NEW BUSINESS:
RESOLUTION 2025-32. A RESOLUTION CANVASSING THE ELECTION RESULTS
FOR THE AUGUST 26, 2025 CITY OF GREENVILLE, ALABAMA MUNICIPAL
ELECTION AND DECLARING JOSEPH WEST DULY ELECTED TO THE OFFICE OF
COUNCILMEMBER, DISTRICT THREE; AND BRANDON SMITH SR. DULY
ELECTED TO THE OFFICE OF COUNCILMEMBER, DISTRICT FOUR.
Mayor McLendon advised the purpose for this meeting was to canvass the results of the
Municipal Election held on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. He turned the floor over to
Elections Manager and City Clerk Dee Blackmon. Mrs. Blackmon advised the
Canvassing Board (council) had received official sealed election results from the polling
site with same being cited in the official resolution accepting those results. She further
advised that five provisional ballots were cast and presented to the Butler County Board
of Registrars, as required by law, for verification. The Board of Registrars reported that
five ballots were rejected and deemed not countable. Final tabulation of votes cast was
presented to the City Council.
Mayor McLendon announced that votes cast were tabulated as follows:

Mayor McLendon thanked the City Clerk for her efforts in a successful and well-managed
election. Mayor McLendon called for the pleasure of the Council regarding adoption of
the resolution.
Councilmember Reynolds moved to adopt Resolution 2025-32 canvassing the results
of the August 26, 2025 Municipal Election . Councilmember Sims seconded the motion.
Mayor McLendon announced the motion carried with a unanimous vote of the Council.
ADJOURNMENT:
Mayor McLendon announced the next regular Council Meeting will be held on Monday,
September 8, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. With no further business or announcements, Mayor
McLendon adjourned the meeting 12:20 pm.
