Town of Greenville Public Hearing Minutes 08-26-24 www.greenvilleborough.com MINUTES OF A PUBLIC HEARING OF THE TOWN OF GREENVILLE COUNCIL HELD IN COUNCIL CHAMBERS Monday, August 26, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. 1. Call to Order Paul Hamill, Mayor If you are a visitor to council, we ask you to please sign in at the door and turn off all cellular telephones. The public was reminded that they may be audio or video recorded during the meeting. 2. Attendance: Paul Hamill, Mayor Jean Fisher-Carr, Deputy Mayor Chad Bromley, Councilor Brian Shipley, Councilor Jasson W. Mayor Paul Hamill read the following statement: The purpose of this hearing is to take public comments on the proposed amendments to The Greenville Borough & Hempfield Township Joint Comprehensive Plan – 2024. The proposed amendments are Greenville Area Brownfields Redevelopment Plan & Town of Greenville, Mercer County, PA Economic Development Strategy. Mr. Joel Rinella, 424 South Main Street, objected to the hearing on the grounds that an agenda was not posted on the website. Mr. Urey, Mayor Hamill, and Councilor Shipley all stated this is a public hearing and does not require an agenda. The hearing proceeded. 6. Public Comments – Mr. Joel Rinella, 424 South Main Street, stated he was unimpressed with the economic study and felt it was outdated and that the council does not understand what impacts it would have on Greenville. Mr. Rinella commented that he did not think building a new municipal building on the Trinity North site was the best use of public funds. He stated that per the proposed plans, the building at 81 N. Main Street is a better place for the municipal building due to the building already existing on the property that can be easily retrofitted at a lower cost. 1 Town of Greenville Public Hearing Minutes 08-26-24 Mr. Gary Mueller, 701 Vernon Road, said this was the first time he heard of the North Main Street option.
