Borough of Greenville Council Minutes 11.24.09 MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOROUGH OF GREENVILLE COUNCIL HELD IN COUNCIL CHAMBERS Thursday, November 24, 2009 at 6:00pm 1. Call to Order Council President Longiotti called the meeting to order at 6:00pm. 2. Flag salute 3. Roll Call: Pete Longiotti, Council President Pamela S. Auchter, Vice President -absent David P. Henderson, Councilor Henry M. Mueller, Councilor - absent Alfred L. Peden, Councilor Brian W. Shipley, Councilor Jasson W. Urey, Councilor Richard H. Miller, Mayor Also present: Peter Candela Frank Vanderslice Anthony D’Alfonso Tom D’Alfonso Media: Scott Graubard Monica Pryts, Herald Steve May Caleb Stright, Record-Argus Donald Shaw Natalie Kennedy, Record-Argus Steve Thompson Council President Longiotti noted a quorum present. 4. Public Comments None. 5. Informational A. Council President Longiotti invited all present to complete an Ohl Street bridge comment form. B. Council President Longiotti announced a public hearing regarding Mercer Street’s Saul Run bridge replacement project during Council Work Session on Thursday, December 3rd. 6. New Business A. Motion by Councilor Henderson, seconded by Councilor Shipley, to adopt the 2010 proposed budget. Motion carried. B. Motion by Councilor Shipley, seconded by Councilor Henderson, to advertise Ordinance 1487 establishing the 2010 General Purposes Tax Rate. Motion carried. C. Motion by Councilor Shipley, seconded by Councilor Urey, to advertise Ordinance 1488 establishing the 2010 General Tax Rate for Indebtedness. Motion carried. D. Motion by Councilor Shipley, seconded by Councilor Henderson, to advertise Ordinance 1489 establishing the 2010 Earned Income Tax Rate. Motion carried. E. Motion by Councilor Urey, seconded by Councilor Henderson, to advertise Ordinance 1486 increasing 2010 sewer rates by 3%. Motion carried. F. Motion by Councilor Henderson, seconded by Councilor Urey, to grant permission to Chief Stephens to place the order for the 2010 police cruiser. Motion carried. Councilor Shipley introduced new Public Services Director Scott Graubard and welcomed him to Greenville. Council President Longiotti extended greetings to new council members Tom D’Alfonso and Steve May and also newly elected Mayor Peter Candela. 7.
