Shoemaker move to accept the minutes of September 6, 2016. Records Committee 11/01 @ 6:30 PM Fire Board 10/03 @ 7:00 PM Ambulance Board 10/10 @ 7:00 PM Committee Reports: N/A Administrator Report: Mr. Giles stated that he would be looking into the road salt contracts in October of this year. Paving on N. Kniffin St. had some issues but the pavers will be coming back to repair those issues and he is still waiting on a decision for the Nature Works Grant, it looks like it will be sometime in November before hearing anything. Mr. Giles also stated that Jen has finished up putting the Septic tank reports into a software program and notifications will be sent out soon. The parks concession stand is in need of some repairs and that the N & E sides of the cemetery have been repaired and southern fence will be done this spring. Also, Mr. Giles stated that the Utility office will be looking into a new utility software program, he liked the presentation that was given on a company named Muni-Link. Mr. Lloyd asked if the baseball bases will be picked up by the Village, Virgil stated “no they are picked up by the league.” Police Chief’s Report: Chief Dorsey stated that Officer Sciortino has started doing media releases. Chief Dorsey also reported updated information about the purchase of a 2014 Ford Explorer that came from Bath Township, it is sitting on a lot and will only be held for a short time. Greenwich, Ohio 44837 (419) 752-2441 miles on it and the sale price is $12,600.00. It does not come with any equipment and the cost for light-bars and other items to make it into an official police cruiser would be an additional $4,000.00, but that Ford Motor Company has wired these vehicles to make them into police vehicles. Chief asked council if they would like to go forward with purchasing the Explorer. Mrs. Phillips had asked if there was money in the budget to make such a purchase and the Chief answered that there was money. Mr. Inmon asked the Chief how the other vehicles were running, the Chief answered that cruiser # 2 has the paint flaking off, and that other cruisers will last another year until they will need to be looked at for replacement. Mayor Sallee stated that he would like to wait till a vehicle with lower miles could be found or until funds would build in the police department’s budget. Chief Dorsey stated that a brand new vehicle with the equipment could cost $44,000.00 or up to $15,000.00 dollars a year leasing and that would deplete the police department’s budget. Zoning Inspector: Mr. Inmon stated that he has wrote quite a few permits and that everything in zoning was running smooth. Solicitor’s Report: Attorney Palmer stated that research for the truck parking situation is still being looked into and that legislation will be coming soon. Mayor’s Report: Mayor Sallee stated that this is National Preparedness month to be prepared in case of any emergencies, and that today September 20, 2016 is National Punch day, not meaning for anyone to go out and punch someone, but yet go home and make some kind of punch to drink. Mayor Sallee also announced that Trick or Treat will be held on Monday, October 31, 2016 this year from 5:00 PM till 6:00 PM and promptly following after Trick or Treat everyone can proceed to South Central’s Jr High School for the Parade and Goodie Bags. Council Discussion: Mr. Giles also wanted to bring up that he would like to have discussion to go into a contract on purchasing a hydrovac. He would like to have the company who is selling the hydrovac to come down and have him inspect the equipment before actually purchasing the machine. Members of council agreed to enter into contract of buying it as long as the inspection was approved by Mr. Giles.
