MINUTES OF THE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF THE CITY OF GROSSE
POINTE WOODS HELD ON MONDAY, MARCH 16, 2026, IN THE COUNCIL-COURTROOM
OF THE ROBERT E. NOVITKE MUNICIPAL CENTER, 20025 MACK PLAZA DR., GROSSE
POINTE WOODS, MICHIGAN.
The meeting was called to order at 7:14 p.m. by Mayor Bryant.

Motion by Koester, seconded by Gafa, that Councilmembers McConaghy and Motschall be
excused from tonight’s meeting.
Motion carried by the following vote:

Motion by Gafa, seconded by Granger, that all items on tonight's agenda be received, placed on
file, and taken in order of appearance, except Item #7 (Presentation) – “Growing Our
Schools in Partnership”, which will be moved to Item #9 (Public Comment).
Motion carried by the following vote:

Motion by Granger, seconded by Brown, that all items (6A-6F) on the consent agenda be approved
as presented, except Item D1 (Purchase of Golf Simulator) which will be removed from the consent

Item D1 (Purchase of Golf Simulator) was removed from the consent agenda for discussion.
Director of Parks and Recreation Gafa provided an overview stating the proposed fee to use the
golf simulator will be $25/hour for groups of 4-6 people and that it will pay for itself within one
year.
Motion by Granger, seconded by Brown, that the City Council approve the request to purchase a
golf simulator for the Lake Front Park Activities Building.

Mayor Bryant read aloud the Vietnam Veterans’ Day proclamation. (March 29)

The City Council recessed the Regular City Council Meeting and convened as a Zoning Board of
Appeals at 7:27 p.m. Upon conclusion of the Zoning Board of Appeals meeting, the City Council
reconvened at 7:42 p.m.
Under Public Comment, the following individuals were heard:
Michele Hodges, Mayor of Grosse Pointe Park.
Matt Kahl, provided a presentation of “Growing Our Schools in Partnership”.
Michael Bottigliero, 1610 Fairholme Rd., GPW.
Pat Gleason, 895 Beaconsfield Ave., Grosse Pointe Park Councilmember.
Colleen Worden, 20052 Fairway Dr., GPW.
Terry Collins, 1222 Harvard Rd., GPP.
Richard Schroeder, 728 Lakepointe St, GPP.
Blagica Bottigliero, 1610 Fairholme Rd., GPW.
Nick Sizeland, 1869 Severn Rd., City Manager of Grosse Pointe Park, also a GPW resident.
Under New Business, the following individual was heard:
Councilmember Koester addressed the upcoming Memorial Tree Dedication Ceremony
(April 1) and requested that City Council agree to postpone the ceremony to a future date
to be determined due to the recipient’s family being unable to attend.
Motion by Koester, seconded by Gafa, that the City Council agree to postpone the Memorial Tree
Dedication Ceremony until a future, to be determined date, based on when schedules allow the
family members to attend.
Motion carried by the following vote:
Yes: Brown, Bryant, Gafa, Granger, Koester
No: None
Absent: McConaghy, Motschall
Motion by Granger, seconded by Koester, to adjourn tonight’s meeting at 8:18 p.m. PASSED
