PUBLIC NOTICE AND AGENDA OF THE GROVELAND RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING SCHEDULED TO CONVENE AT 6:30 P.M. TUESDAY, September 22, 2020 Please note: In order to reduce public gatherings and the spread of COVID-19, the September 22, 2020 Recreation Advisory Meeting will be held using telephonic video conferencing as authorized by Governor DeSantis in Executive Order 20-69. The public can attend the virtual meeting. Committee Member Reports PUBLIC COMMENT ADJOURNMENT Groveland Code of Ordinances Sec. 2-58 (f). Any person desiring to address the Council shall first secure the permission of the presiding officer and shall give his name and address for the record. All remarks shall be addressed to the Council as a body and not to any member thereof unless permission to do so is first granted by the presiding officer. Unless further time is granted by the presiding officer or the council, member of the public shall limit their discussion or address to no more than five minutes. No question shall be asked a council member or city official except through the presiding officer. If your address is exempt from public record you are not required to state it. In addition, do not give out your Social Security Number, phone number, email address or any other information you do not want others to have access to as the meetings are recorded and those recordings are considered public record. Pursuant to the provisions of Chap. 286, F.S., Sec. 286.0105, if a person decides to appeal any decision made by this body with respect to any matter considered at this meeting, he or she will need a record of the proceedings, and that for such purpose, he or she may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record may include the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based and is advised to make such arrangements at his or her own expense. *In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 286.26, Florida Statute, persons with disabilities needing special accommodation to participate in this meeting should contact the City Clerk’s Office no later than 5:00 p.m. the day of the meeting. City of Groveland Minutes Recreation Advisory Committee (RAC) August 11, 2020 The Recreation Advisory Committee (RAC) held a regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 via virtual Zoom meeting number 852 1815 8365. Acting Chair Mike Walker called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. with the following committee members present: David Badillo, Paula Hall, Margie Jones, Karyn Norwood, Chuck Kenzig, and Youth Representative Ryan Wright. City officials present were Parks and Recreation Director Mike Walker and Recording Secretary Joy Lee Barton. GUEST SPEAKER, PRESENTATONS, AND PROCLAMATIONS David Barth, from Barth and Associates presented a Parks, Recreation and Trails Master Plan to all Committee Members and members of the Steering Committee followed by a question and answer session. PUBLIC COMMENTS No public comments were received by the Recording Secretary to be read into the record by the start time of this meeting. CONSENT AGENDA Approval of the February 11, 2020 and March 10, 2020 RAC Meeting Minutes: Motion: Committee Member Paula Hall moved for approval of the February and March, 2020 Meeting Minutes; seconded by School Representative Ryan Wright seconded. All Committee Members approved via roll call. . OLD BUSINESS 1. Park Project Updates Parks and Recreation Director Mike Walker gave an overview of Cherry Lake Park stating Phase 1 was complete. Lake David Park North is complete and a slide was shown of the pavers, amphitheater, and shade structures. Mr. Walker thanked the City of Groveland Community Director, Tim Maslow, for assisting in the purchase of the oak trees for Lake David North. Mr. Walker also pointed out the Magnolia tree that was planted in honor of the City of Groveland High School class of 1962. Lake David Park South is moving forward after some revisions. The estimated completion date of Lake David Park South is anticipated to be around the end of October with an anticipated August start date. The splash pad design remains the same just the location may change. The RAC Board will be made aware of any updates. NEW BUSINESS 1. Committee Member Introductions New Committee Member Chuck Kenzig introduced himself to the RAC Committee Members. Each Committee Member introduced themselves to Committee Member Kenzig as well and told a little about themselves. Parks and Recreation Direction Mike Walker stated the Chair and Vice- Chair selections would take place at the September 2020 meeting. 2. Organization of the September 2020 meeting All Committee Members agreed to keep the Recreation Advisory Board Meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm. REPORTS a. Committee Member Reports Committee Member David Badillo – no report Committee Member Amanda Traywick attended the Back Pack Event and a couple of City Council Meetings. Committee Member Chuck Kenzig – no report. Committee Member Paula Hall attended the Back Pack Event. Committee Member Margie Jones – no report. Committee Member Karyn Norwood stated everything is going well. Committee Member Ryan Wright said Lake David Park looks great and he cannot wait to perform there.
