MEETING SCHEDULED TO CONVENE AT 6:30 P .M. TUESDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2020
Please note: In order to reduce public gatherings and the spread of COVID-19, the October 13,
2020 Recreation Advisory Meeting will be held using telephonic video conferencing as authorized
by Governor DeSantis in Executive Order 20-69. The public can attend the virtual meeting.
Instructions to participate have been osted to the city's website under "public notices" at

Groveland Code of Ordinances Sec. 2-58 (j). Any person desiring to address the Council shall first secure
the permission ofthe presiding officer and shall give his name and address for the record. All remarks shall
be addressed to the Council as a body and not to any member thereof unless permission to do so is first
granted by the presiding officer. Unless fi,rther time is granted by the presiding officer or the council,
member of the public shall limit their discussion or address to no more than.five minutes. No question shall
be asked a council member or city official except through the presiding officer.
Jfyour address is exempt from public record you are not required to state it. In addition, do not give out
your Social Security Number, phone number, email address or any other information you do not want others
to have access to as the meetings are recorded and those recordings are considered public record.

Recreation Advisory Committee (RAC)
September 22, 2020
The Recreation Advisory Committee (RAC) held a regularly scheduled meeting
on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 via virtual Zoom meeting number 889 5362
3794. Acting Chair Mike Walker called the meeting to order at 6:38 p.m. with the
following committee members present: Paula Hall, Margie Jones, Karyn
Norwood, Amanda Traywick and Chuck Kenzig. Absent were David Badillo and
School Representative Ryan Wright. City officials present were Parks and
Recreation Director Mike Walker and Recording Secretary Joy Lee Barton.
GUEST SPEAKER, PRESENTATONS, AND PROCLAMATIONS
None
PUBLIC COMMENTS
No public comments were received by the Recording Secretary to be read into
the record by the start time of this meeting.
COMMITTEE SELECTION
1. Selection of Committee Chair Person:
Committee Member Paula Hall nominated Committee Member Amanda
Traywick for Committee Chair Person, the nomination was seconded
by Committee Member Karyn Norwood. Roll was called with all
Committee Members voting Aye. Committee member Amanda Traywick
was voted Chair Person.
2. Selection of Committee Vice-Chair Person:
Committee Member Margie Jones nominated Committee Member
Karyn Norwood for Committee Vice-Chair, the nomination was
seconded by Committee Member Chuck Kenzig. Roll was called
with all Committee Members voting Aye. Karyn Norwood was voted
Vice-Chair Person.
CONSENT AGENDA
Approval of the August 11, 2020 RAC Meeting Minutes:
Motion: Committee Member Chuck Kenzig moved for approval of the
August 11 , 2020 Meeting Minutes; seconded by Vice-Chair Karyn
Norwood. All Committee Members approved via roll call.
OLD BUSINESS
1. Park Project Updates
Parks and Recreation Director Mike Walker gave the Recreation Advisory
Board an update on the Parks Master Plan reminding the committee that
the Master Plan kick off meeting was held in July. Mr. Walker read the list
of members currently on the steering committee as well as a list of
persons who have met with Barth and Associates for the Stakeholder
Meeting. Mr. Walker said the Parks and Recreation Needs Assessment
surveys will be mailed out October thru December and this assessment
will also be available on-line for residents to fill out.
Several Committee Members stated they would like to be kept more
informed about Park and Recreation events in the future. Mr. Walker
assured the committee they will be informed of all up-coming events in a
timely manner.
Solar lighting, vandalism and security cameras for the parks was
discussed and Mr. Walker will research these items and update the
committee.
The committee agreed to keep having virtual meetings until the City of
Groveland City Councils starts in-person meetings.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Recreation Advisory Committee Responsibilities
Parks and Recreation Director Mike Walker read the list of
responsibilities for all committee members.
2. Event Updates
Mr. Walker stated starting in October and running thru March, the 2nd
Friday of each month, a farmers market will be held at Lake David from
5-9 pm . Due to Covid-19 restrictions, some alternate plans are in the
works for a Halloween event and the RAC committee members will be
updated once plans are finalized.
REPORTS
a. Committee Member Reports
Committee Member David Badillo - absent
Chair Person Amanda Traywick attended two ribbon cutting
ceremonies, a virtual City Council meeting and visited a couple of
parks in Orlando that was handled by Barth and Associates. She
also attended part of the Movie Night event.
Committee Member Chuck Kenzig - took an on-line ethics class
and attended the Lake David Park ribbon cutting.
Committee Member Paula Hall - attended two ribbon cutting
ceremonies
Committee Member Margie Jones - did not attend any events but
stated the grass is getting so tall around Lake David it is difficult to
see the water in some places.
Vice-Chair Karyn Norwood -Attended the CRA Open House.
Adjournment
Chairperson Amanda Traywick adjourned the meeting at 8:50 p.m.
