Call to Order by Mayor Westcamp at 5:02 p.m. Staff Present: Marsha Hall - Administrator, Kevin Shannon - Law Director, Jeff Green - Director of Finance Guests Present: The Guest Book is on file with the Clerk of Council. II. New Business a. Potential Executive Session to Discuss the Appointment of a Public Official Law Director Kevin Shannon requested Council to consider making a motion to go into Executive Session pursuant to Ohio Revised Code Section 121.22 (G)(1) to consider the appointment of a public official, to include just the members of Council and any potential applicants for the vacanct seat. Executive Session A motion was made by Council Member Dildine, seconded by Council Member Cleary, to go into Executive Session at 5:04 p.m. pursuant to Ohio Revised Code Section 121.22 (G)(1) to consider the appointment of a public official, to include just the members of Council and any potential applicants for the vacancy for Council. The motion carried by the following vote: A motion was made by Council Member Cleary, seconded by Council Member Hutson, to come out of Executive Session at 7:19 p.m with no action taken. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 5- Cleary, Dildine, Hilbert, Hutson and Lockett Mayor Lance Westcamp asked for nominations for the vacant seat. Council Member Lockett commented that all the applicants were excellent candidates for the vacant seat. Mr. Lockett appreciated their enthusiasm and their love for Groveport but nominated Chad Grashel to fill the seat of Marvin Stevens. Council Member Dildine seconded the nomination. Law Director Kevin Shannon asked for any other nominations, hearing none, he asked for a motion to close the nominations. A motion was made by Council Member Cleary, seconded by Council Member City of Groveport Page 1 City Council Meeting Minutes April 9, 2018 Dildine, to close the nominations. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 5- Cleary, Dildine, Hilbert, Hutson and Lockett Council Member Dildine commented that the interviews had given this Council a lot to think and talk about as a body. All the candidates would have worked to move Groveport forward and he hopes those not chosen tonight would consider the City's many committees, boards and commissions as a way to be involved. A motion was made by Council Member Lockett, seconded by Council Member Dildine, to appoint Chad Grashel to fill the vacant seat of Council vacated by Marvin Stevens, term to expire December 31, 2021. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 4- Dildine, Hilbert, Hutson and Lockett No: 1- Cleary III.
