Call to Order by Mayor Westcamp at 6:30 p.m. Staff Present: Marsha Hall - Administrator, Kevin Shannon - Law Director, Jeff Green - Director of Finance, Ralph Portier - Chief of Police Guests Present: The Guest Book is on file with the Clerk of Council. II. Moment of Silence The Mayor asked everyone to join him in a moment of silence. III. Pledge of Allegiance Chief Portier led the Pledge of Allegiance. IV. Roll Call A motion was made by Council Member Hilbert, seconded by Council Member Grashel, to excuse Council Member Lockett from the meeting. Ohio Senator Tina Maharath Ohio Senator Tina Maharath, District 3, introduced herself to the Mayor and City Council. She had tried to coordinate, with Groveport's Mayor and Council, a discussion on the transportation budget since it will impact Groveport. Since that did not happen and the State is going into its operation budget, she wanted to take the opportunity to address Council now to make sure local governments’ costs are covered. She invited Council to knock on her door for any questions or concerns they may have. The Mayor and Council thanked her for coming to tonight’s meeting. VII. C. 1st Readings None VIII. Reports A. Mayor - Lance Westcamp Mayor Lance Westcamp complimented City staff on the First Tuesday event. Most of the people present tonight were at the event along with a large crowd. At the rest of the scheduled First Tuesday events there will be a police officer on overtime to address the concerns of the pedestrians crossing Main Street to the food trucks. The Phillips on Wheels food truck did a great job at lunch hours on that Tuesday as well. They sold out of 1000 hot dogs in two hours and have signed up for the last 2 scheduled First Tuesday events. Council Members - Jean Ann Hilbert, Ed Dildine, Shawn Cleary, Becky Hutson, Scott Lockett and Chad Grashel Council Member Grashel participated in Saturday’s Joe Newland Memorial Bike Ride put on by the Groveport Recreation Center. The event ran well and had a good turnout. Council Member Cleary commented he was not pleased with the grass at the cemetery on Memorial Day. Council Member Dildine wants the City to look into the possibility of placing a crosswalk in front of the Groveport Elementary School. The sidewalk that splits the grassy area in two at the school angles towards one corner of the driveway at Ace Hardware. Administrator Hall commented some concerns include the construction of handicap ramps and that a crosswalk would pass right through existing parking spots on the school side of Main Street. City Engineer, Steve Farst and Ms. Hall are looking into the area but that particular area has a number of obstacles. There has been talk of putting a crosswalk project in the budget for next year. Pat Wears helped pedestrians cross Main Street, he took his time to make sure everyone crossed safely. Mr. Green plans to give the local businesses the opportunity to set up booths for the next three First Tuesday events. Council Member Cleary mentioned the picture of Officer Kurt Boso escorting two ladies across the football stadium during the 2019 graduation ceremony at Groveport Madison High School.
