FIRE & POLICE COMMISSION MEETING –Minutes Village of Hales Corners, WI October 22, 2024 5635 S. New Berlin Road President Riemer called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM. 1.0 Roll Call – Present: Commission President Riemer, Commissioners; Dzick, Mixon, Schwartz and Smyczek. Staff: Police Chief Cera, Fire Chief Jaskulski and Trustee Liaison Chesney. Audience: Brian Gardner 2.0 General Business 2.1 Action Items 2.1.1 Appointment of Police Officer – A motion was made (Dzick/Schwartz) to laterally appoint Zachary Marchewka to the position of Police Officer, effective November 1st, 2024 subject to a one-year probationary period. Motion passed 5-0-0. 2.1.2 Appointment of Fire Captain-Paramedic – Chief Jaskulski introduced Milwaukee Fire Battalion Chief Brian Gardner. Gardner provided a brief overview of his extensive fire career and professional credentials. He further expressed a strong excitement at the opportunity to continue his career with the Village. Chief Jaskulski echoed the excitement and advised that a start date needs to be coordinated based upon the needs of the service. A motion was made (Smyczek/Schwartz) to appoint Brian Gardner to the position of Fire Captain-Paramedic, on a date to be determined by the Chief and subject to a one-year probationary period from that date.
