Hampton Coliseum Citizens Advisory Committee Meeting – June 27, 2017 Attending: (A) = absent Matthew Ballard ( ) Bob Boester ( ) Willie Brown ( ) Lynne Hutton ( ) Asa Jenrette ( ) Pam Lawson (A) Ryan Lowrie (A) Woody Newman ( ) Donte Perry ( ) Patricia Melochick (A) Terri Vander Vennet ( ) Nicole Fisher ( ) Call to Order/Reading and Approval of Minutes: At 12:16p.m., Chair Boester called the meeting to order. Motion made by Ms. Hutton to approve the minutes of the May 23, 2017 meeting. Mr. Brown seconded. The motion passed. Chair Report/Announcement: Chair Boester led a discussion of the previous weekend’s Hampton Jazz Festival. Mr. Jenrette shared his enjoyment of the weekend as did Mr. Brown’s attendance by his son. Director’s Report: Ms. Vander Vennet stated the month of May ’17 had 9 event days and 7 performances with 10,286 attendees. Events included Casey Auto Spring Car Sale, Thomas Nelson Community College Graduation, We Are One Mother’s Day Celebration and The Chainsmokers. June ’17 had 14 event days with 12 performances. Events included Equipovision Summer Convention, Newport News High School Graduations, Hampton City School Graduations and Hampton Jazz Festival. The American Theatre 2017-2018 Season went on sale June 15 and has 125 tickets sold. Ms. Vander Vennet gave an update on current CIP projects. Old Business: Chair Boester commented that the Virginia Beach Arena project has until September to secure their financing. Other Business: None Adjournment: Meeting was adjourned at 1:08 p.m. Next Meeting: Next Meeting is currently scheduled for Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at 12 noon at the Embassy Suites Hotel.
