Hampton Coliseum Citizens Advisory Committee Meeting – May 22, 2018 Attending: (A) = absent Bob Boester ( ) Willie Brown (A) Lynne Hutton ( ) Asa Jenrette ( ) Ryan Lowrie ( ) Woody Newman ( ) Donte Perry ( ) Samantha Snead ( ) Patricia Melochick (A) Terri Vander Vennet ( ) Kevin Spence ( ) Call to Order/Reading and Approval of Minutes: At 12:08p.m., Chair Boester called the meeting to order. Motion made by Ms. Hutton to approve the minutes of the April 24, 2018 meeting. Mr. Newman seconded. The motion passed. Chair Report/Announcement: Chair Boester announced the scheduling of Phish October 19-21, 2018 and discussed the financial benefits the event affords to the Coliseum and the community as a whole due to the impact of hotel, restaurant, and retail sales. Director’s Report: Ms. Vander Vennet shared the event statistics for April. April ’18 had 1 event day and 1 performance with 1,905 in attendance. The event was HCS Commitment to Graduate ceremony. May ’18 has 3 events; TNCC Graduation, Mother’s Day Celebration concert and WWE. Upcoming events for June are Equipovision, NNPS Graduations, HCS Graduations, and Hampton Jazz Festival. Capital Improvement projects were reviewed and it was the recommendation of the committee that the ice floor be replaced to ensure future ice event bookings. Ms. Vander Vennet and Mr. Spence gave an update on the Central Park Trail. Discussion ensued on the security and safety issues of the trail in relation to the path utilizing the ramp walk around the South side of the Coliseum. Other Business: Adjournment: Meeting was adjourned at 1:16 p.m. Next Meeting: Next Meeting is currently scheduled for Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at 12 noon at the Embassy Suites.
