Hampton Coliseum Citizens Advisory Committee Meeting – September 25, 2018 Attending: (A) = absent Bob Boester ( ) Willie Brown ( ) Lynne Hutton ( ) Asa Jenrette ( ) Andrew Wilson ( ) Ryan Lowrie ( ) Woody Newman ( ) Donte Perry ( ) Samantha Snead ( ) Patricia Melochick ( ) Terri Vander Vennet ( ) Call to Order/Reading and Approval of Minutes: At 12:1p.m., Chair Boester called the meeting to order. Motion made by Ms. Hutton to approve the minutes of the June 26, 2018 meeting. Mr. Newman seconded. The motion passed. Chair Report/Announcement: Chair Boester discussed member terms ending December 2018. Mr. Boester and Mr. Brown are at the end of their first term and are eligible for reappointment, Ms. Hutton is ending her second term and is not eligible for reappointment. Chair Boester reminded members if they knew of potential candidates, to have them sign up through the Board Bank in October. Director’s Report: Ms. Vander Vennet shared the event statistics for June through September 2018. June ’18 had 15 event days with 15 performances and 78,259 in attendance. July ’18 had 5 events with 4 performances and 3,891 in attendance. August ’18 had 16 event days with 10 performances with 26,900 in attendance. September had 2 event days with 2 performances and 22,472 in attendance. Upcoming events for October are Crawling Crab Marathon, Phish and Hampton Roads Soul Festival. FY18 Financials will be presented at October meeting. Other Business: Mr. Newman presented information on Screens-n-Suds, a Phish related artist auction being held at The Vanguard the weekend of Phish. Proceeds from the auction will be donated to several local charities, including the Hampton Arts Foundation to support The American Theatre and the Charles Taylor Visual Arts Center. Legal representative, Patricia Melochick gave an update on the Coliseum’s trademark renewal. Legal is moving forward with a Federal registration instead of the State renewal. Adjournment: Meeting was adjourned at 1:10 p.m. Next Meeting: Next Meeting is currently scheduled for Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at 12 noon at the Embassy Suites.
