Minutes: The minutes from the last meeting were accepted. It was noted that there were no meeting minutes (Committee)for a few months because there were a series of meeting cancelations due to snow days, holidays, and a lack of a quorum. 2. Director’s Report: The city manager’s recommended budget will be completed by the end of the week. Dutch Dialogues—a community meeting about living with sea level rise, will occur on April 18th and 20th at 6:30 PM There will be a mayor’s forum on April 27th at 6:30 PM at the North Phoebus Community Center. The Home Repair Blitz will happen on May 6th in North Phoebus. We will do work on 2 schools and 6 houses. 3. Workplan: There was group discussion about the work of the commission. He just wanted to check-in to get the Executive Committee’s thoughts on the discussion that took place and get any feedback on the process moving forward.  Sandra Medina noted having an anonymous survey for citizens/Registered Neighborhood Serving Organizations to voice their input without pressure or judgment may be a good idea to help the Neighborhood Commission find direction on the work plan. • Jonathan noted the Neighborhood Commission may want to look at the current social infrastructure it has now 1  and assess if a survey is needed. Also for the group to look at what they are trying to achieve? And the Commission should discuss this as a group and determine that before moving forward. • Peggy Todd noted an anonymous survey isn’t the goal, but it’s the relationship building as a communication tool.  The conversation at the next commission meeting will be focused on the role of the Neighborhood Commission as well as what does the outcome of good engagement/communication/partnerships look like and what tactics should be used to get there as connectors. Item #2 Strategic Project Updates: o Hampton Neighborhood College – NSP (Darren) o Mayor Forum – Thursday, April 27th, at North Phoebus Community Center from 6pm to 8pm. o Hampton 101 – The next session will be Thursday, June 1st, 9am to 1pm at Sandy Bottom Nature Park. Then immediately following will be the bus tour from 1pm to 3pm. o Hampton 201 – The next session will be 6 courses on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings at various locations.  The dates will be Oct. 19th, Oct. 21st, Oct. 26th, 28th, and November 2nd -4th.  Locations will be announced as the date for the event is closer. o ABCD Workshops – There will be several Asset Base Community Development Workshops taking place over the next 6 months.  A pilot workshop will be taking place internally for the Safe & Clean Staff on April 25th.  Joe is working on a general ABCD Workshop on June 28th.  Darren is working on the one for the schools and churches.  Also there will be an ABCD Workshop for o Home Repair Blitz (May 6th) – CAPI (Marybrook) o The next Home Repair Blitz will be May 6th and Jasmine will be sending out a task list for the Commissioners of assignments on the day of.  6 houses have signed up and two schools will also be a part of the list of projects.  Fred is working on getting volunteers from his church and getting fruit for the breakfast portion of the event. o Meet and Greet– CivCom (Sandra/Marybrook)  Once the work plan is finalized the Commission will decide if Meet and Greets should remain the same or restructure it. o RNSO Registration (Marybrook/Sandra) 2  o The Civic Communications Committee has one application to review and vote on at their next meeting. o ABCD Update (Jonathan) o This will be added to both the Executive Committee Meeting and the Neighborhood Commission Meeting agenda as an update.  For right now the Meet & Greets, You Make A Difference, and Neighborhood Commission Annual Retreat will be removed and placed back on the agenda once the work plan is finalized. Item #3 Committee Status Reports A. Civic Communications Committee (Sandra) o The Committee next meeting is May 1st and will have more to report at the main Neighborhood Commission Meeting. B. Community Appearance, Pride and Image Committee (Fred/Peggy) o The Committee didn’t meet this month due to schedule conflicts, but their next meeting is May 17th. C. Neighborhood-School Partnerships Committee (Darren) o Status mentioned above. D. Nominating Committee (Jasmine) o The Committee didn’t meet this month due to schedule conflicts, but the Committee has asked staff to help them reevaluate the nomination process and bring recommendations back on how to improve the process. o Fred noted putting the open positions on neighborhoods’ Next Door pages may help get more interested in being a commissioner and target citizens that live in the areas of Buckroe, Phoebus, and Downtown Hampton. E. Youth Committee (Jonathan) o Xavier Williams will be asked to start coming to the Executive Committee Meetings to give updates on the Youth Commission.
