Roll Call II. November OMM Activity October Notes: Activity was determined. III. 2023 Briefings a. Jan 2023 – Neighborhood Office, District, & At Large Training (with breakout sessions) b. Feb 2023 – Budget, Clean City c. March 2023 – Grant Writing & Process (Invite RNOs) d. April 2023 – Fair Housing & Realtors October Notes: As we work to schedule briefings well out in advance, an idea to coordinate briefings with events the Neighborhood Commission would like to support was discussed amongst the full Committee. The suggestion was well received and will be discussed with the full Commission during the Development & Training Committee Status Report. The first two events would be with the Clean City Commission and an event they may have prepared for Earth Day AND/OR an event with the Housing Authority, Realtors, etc. around fair housing. IV. Mentor Support for New Commissioners October Notes: Since a number of vacancies are projected to be filled in the New Year, the Development and Training Committee is focusing their efforts on any revisions to be made to the Mentor checklists as well as discuss the best way to brief this information to mentors. In the meantime, the Chair will begin reaching out to potential mentors. I. Roll Call a. Quorum verified b. Kevin Steele began the meeting at 5:15PM. II. Update on Aberdeen Gardens RNO Meeting a. J McBride reported on the joint meeting between Aberdeen Civic League and Greater Aberdeen Community Coalition. b. The groups had a productive initial meeting and dialog will continue including a follow-up meeting on October 17th c. It was assessed that the two groups could coexist as complimentary entities. Both J McBride and S Bond recommended approval of GACC's application as an RNO based on the meeting. III. Consideration of GACC RNO Application a. Kevin Steele reintroduced the GACC RNO application for a vote. The results were four “Yays” with one abstention. IV. Discussion of RNO Program Promotion Strategy a. J McBride brought up the topic of promoting the RNO program in a more accessible way and focusing the building capacity of RNOs within the city.  b. K Steele remarked that we ought to make clearer the benefits of becoming an RNO as it's a prime motivator for groups. c. M Harper followed by saying we should make people more aware of RNO- building resources and also get the word out. d. Several attendees echoed that there is value in providing better coaching to RNO leaders, particularly for better recruiting, organizational practices, and access to resources. The conversation on this topic will continue through the next couple months as we attempt to improve citizen access to the RNO program.
