Public Hearing Items Use Permit Application No. 16-00001: by Hampton University to operate university facilities, specifically academic buidings, offices, and parking, on an approximately 4.0+ acre portion of the Hampton University main campus (LRSN 12001034) bounded by Ferry Road to the northeast, Indian Road to the northwest and southwest, and W. Tyler Street to the southeast. The property is zoned One Family Residence (R-13) District, which permits universities with an approved use permit. The Hampton Community Plan (2006, as amended) recommends public/semi-public land use for this area. Use Permit Application No. 16-00003: by Andrea Alston to operate a Day Care 3 at 923 Aberdeen Rd (LSRN 3005147). The property is zoned Limited Commercial (C-2) District, which permits a Day Care 3 with an approved use permit. Approval of this application would permit a day care with up to 48 children in an existing building. The Hampton Community Plan (2006, as amended) recommends commercial land use for this area. Zoning Ordinance Amendment No. 190-2016: Ordinance To Amend And Re-Enact Chapter 2 Of The Zoning Ordinance Of The City Of Hampton, Virginia Entitled “Definitions” By Amending Section 2-2 Pertaining To Day Care. Approval of this amendment would amend the definition for day care and align it with state code requirements. This item is proposed in conjunction with Zoning Ordinance Amendment 191-2016 to amend day care regulations.
