Hampton Senior Citizen Advisory Committee November 5, 2018 Hampton Senior Center Members Present: Yvonne Gaynor, Carol Perenzin, Martha Clark, Doris Farmer, George Gwynn, JR., Ingrid Kirschmann, Peggy Marshburn, Sarah Drew, Christine Evans, Cynthia Harris Agency Representatives: Alison Eubank, Place Making Planner, Sean Clark, Susan Elswick Gloria Jones, Parks, Recreation and Leisure Services, Barbara Stewart Department of Social Services, Maria Santarsiero Peninsula Taskforce, Gina Lewis Foster Grandparents Y. Gaynor called the meeting to order at 10:03 am. Sean Clark called the roll and read the minutes from the October 8th SCAC meeting and a motion was made to accept the minutes by Carol Perenzin as read and the motion was 2nd by Cynthia Harris. Minutes were accepted by those present. Old Business: Sub Committee reports were provide. Sandy Waldo & George Gwynn provided the residential association report. They have continued to connect with residential managers and residents to provide information, gather feedback while encouraging SCAC participation. Gloria Jones provided the town hall report. Yvonne Gaynor and Gloria Jones provided the awards committee report. The committee discussed a variety of methods to increase the number nominations. New Business: Yvonne Gaynor and committee discussed the remaining items that need to be addressed; menu items, securing nomination applications, and obtaining gifts for those being honored during the program. Agency Reports: Barbara Stewart provided the agency report for Department of Social Services. The medicated expansion program began on November 1, 2018. Bill Massey and Maria Santarsiero provided the report for Peninsula Agency on Aging. The senior dining program is still recruiting for those 60 and older and they will be providing transportation to the voting polls. Gloria Jones and Susan Elswick provided the report for Parks, Recreation and Leisure Services. During the month of December there will be a shopping trip and Fashion Show. The Holiday Parade will take place on December 8. The committee has decided to extend the nomination submission deadline until November 9. The meeting adjourned at 12:03 pm and the next meeting is Monday January 7th, 10:00am at the Senior Center. Respectfully submitted, Sean Clark
