Support-Acknowledge-Value-Empower Speakers Bureau Subcommittee November 7, 2022 - 9:30 a.m. Hampton Senior Center - 3501 Kecoughtan Road Meeting Minutes CALL TO ORDER & WELCOME: Chair C’Faison Harris called the meeting to order at 9:10am, serving as the recorder. ROLL CALL: Present: C’Faison Harris, Martha Clark, and Lewis Dawley; a quorum was present. Excused: Susan Elswick (attending another committee meeting) APPROVAL OF JULY MINUTES: July meeting minutes were reviewed. A motion was made and seconded to accept the minutes as written; motion carried. SUBCOMMITTEE BUSINESS:  Meeting Schedule Discussion - Due to cancellation of October meeting, members met November 7 at 9:30am. Next meeting tentatively scheduled for January 9 due to New Year’s holiday on January 2.  Tentative Schedule of Speakers, 1st quarter 2023: Lewis said he is involved with the Peninsula Food Bank, and that he’d reach out to its management to have a speaker talk to us about food inadequacies, and provide detailed info on programs/resources for Hampton seniors, possibly at January meeting. Martha stated that information is needed on the Medicare Advantage Program, particularly scams involved. It was noted that Senior Center staff had a gentleman speak earlier on financial advising – Cynthia to check with Chanda for that contact info – possibly schedule for February. Lewis suggested having Police Chief Talbot and Fire Chief Monk speak at the March & April meetings. Cynthia to confirm with Dave & Linda on all suggested speakers.
