Peninsula Stadium Authority Minutes May 6th, 2019 The meeting was called to order by Jim Wilson, Chair. Others in attendance included: Pat Uribes, Frank Feagan, Randy Price, Wayne Gomes, Dave McCauley, Sallie Marchello, Lola Perkins, Brenda Stokes and Linda Williams from the Board. Also present was City Mayor Donnie Tuck and from Community Baseball Henry Morgan and Hank Morgan. The April Meeting Minutes were approved by Randy, seconded by Frank and approved by the Committee. Treasurers Report presented by Sallie: The Wifi balance due is the only thing outstanding, once paid the new balance will be approximately $56,000. FY 2020 Budget: Basic amount has been approved. Jim has asked for an additional amount to address future issues such as: Bathrooms, ADA Seating and Locker Rooms. New Building Construction: Has had some challenges causing several delays. Plans are being made to have an I-Beam signed by City Council Members during a Ceremony to commemorate the renovations of the Stadium. The Ceremony is set to take place on Tuesday, May 28th at 11:00 am, rain date will be Wednesday, May 29th same time. The Mayor and Henry Morgan will make speeches during the Ceremony and later the I- Beam will be mounted over the Batting Cage. There are also plans to create a Plaque with the signatures of City Council to have mounted once the project is completed, place TBD. Capital Improvement Projects: New Entrance Way Building and Ticket Booth are going slower than anticipated due to some weather delays. Looking for a completion date around the 1st part of August. Public Works will be able to re-paint the parking lot by Opening Day, May 30th. Crews are finishing up the painting of the Beams in approximately 3 weeks. Drawings and plans will be completed this week for the drainage of the field. Henry is looking into the Infield Vendor to use once the current Contractor has completed their work (Aug-Sept). The field work should start around September and hopefully be completed by November. Jim met with the City Police Chief to discuss: lights, parking lot & construction. He suggested renting a portable light at the entrance to the Park, hiring 2 police officers and placing temporary "No Parking" signs and orange barrels across the street from the Stadium on Pembroke Ave. The cost to hire the Extra Duty Police Officers is $31/hour with a minimum of 4 hours and a back up Officer is $28/hour with a minimum of 4 hours. Dates considered for the additional Police assistance: May 30th, June 22nd, July 4th & July 25th. A motion was made by Sallie to approve the hiring of the 2 Police Officers and rent the portable lights, Randy seconded the motion and was approved by the Committee. Lightening Strike Claim-Jim is still working with the City Attorney and will follow up with the Committee at our next meeting. Update from the Pilots: 20th Anniversary season tickets are on sale and doing well. Improvements that have been completed or will be done by Opening Day include: new carpet in the Kids Play Area, ADA bathrooms completed, replaced worn boards in seating area, replaced deck boards behind 3rd Base dugout, Tiki Bar area to be thoroughly cleaned. A Guest Celebrity (not announcing in advance who this will be) is still set to appear between June 22-24th. Looking into having fans shuttled to the Stadium from Peninsula Town Center. There are still a couple of Boxes available to rent (included in the rental are 10 tickets, 4X6 advertisment, waitress service and the best seating in the Stadium). PA System is working properly and the WIFI will be in and working by May 30th. Looking for some history of the War Memorial Stadium to include during the Ceremony on May 28th. Directional Signs have been installed except for 2. Meeting was adjourned by Jim. Next Meeting will be Monday, June 3rd.
