HAYES TOWNSHIP August 28, 2023 UNAPPROVED MINUTES Supervisor Jones called the Special Meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. at the Hayes Township Hall, 2055 E. Townline Lake Road. Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Members present – Supervisor Jones, Trustee Buckley, Trustee Teall, Treasurer Rood, and Clerk Hoyt Motion Rood/Teall to approve agenda with the additions of the following discussions:  Blight  Building Update  Arnold Lake SAD  Cranberry and Hampton dead trees  Clerk update – Election Maintenance, Cemetery project, card system update All Ayes, motion carried. Public Comment on agenda (The Hayes Township Board allows 3 minutes per person for public comment) New Business Motion Hoyt/Teall to authorize Supervisor Jones to contact several cleanup companies to bid the complete cleanup of the three (3) properties that have abatement orders, with the bids due to Hayes Township by 10:00 am on Thursday August 31. All Ayes, motion carried. Motion Hoyt/Teall to call a Special Board Meeting to award bids for cleanup of the three (3) properties that have abatement orders on Thursday August 31 at 1:00 p.m. All Ayes, motion carried. Motion Teall/Hoyt to increase the emergency repair policy from $500 to $1,000. All Ayes, motion carried.  Discussion items  Blight – doing the best we can, court filings are done legally, it takes time o Milage passed November 2012 o Ordinance Enforcement agreement with County began February 2022 o Neighborhoods are being cleaned up o Several court cases have been held o Four (4) abatement have been processed o Cannot focus only on one (1) case o Made lots of progress in a little over a year   Building Update – Driveway, camera system, Lighting  Arnold Lake SAD – tentatively scheduled for October 10 at 10:00 am  Cranberry dead trees – Road Commission has removed trees  Clerk update – Election Maintenance, Cemetery project, card system update Public Comment – questions were taken and answered.
