HAYES TOWNSHIP January 9, 2024 UNAPPROVED MINUTES Supervisor Jones called the General Meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. at the Hayes Township Hall, 2055 E. Townline Lake Road. Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Members present – Supervisor Jones, Trustee Buckley, Trustee Teall, Treasurer Rood, and Clerk Hoyt Members absent - None Motion Rood/Buckley to approve agenda with the addition of road discussion. All Ayes, motion carried. Public Comment on agenda (The Hayes Township Board allows 3 minutes per person for public comment) Community Reports • County Commissioner • Lake Boards Rowe Engineering presented the updated sewer/water study to the board. The Board will determine the next step for the sewer/water proposal. Motion Teall/Rood to approve the following board minutes: • December 18, 2023 General meeting All Ayes, motion carried. Motion Rood/Hoyt to approve MTA Capital Conference registration for Deputy Treasurer Cavanaugh. All ayes, motion carried. Motion Hoyt/Teall to approve holiday 2024 closure dates. Motion Hoyt/Teall to approve update to Employee Handbook for holiday pay for full-time employees to include the additional following holidays: • New Years Eve Day • Martin Luther King Jr Day • President’s Day • Juneteenth • Columbus Day • Veteran’s Day • Christmas Eve Day Roll call vote: Jones – aye, Buckley – aye, Teall – aye, Rood – aye, Hoyt – aye. Motion carried. Motion Teall/Rood to accept Rick Jones resignation on Blight Coordinator effective January 21, 2024. All ayes, motion carried. Meeting break from 11:05 to 11:17 am. Discussion items Blight Coordinator position and revised protocol was addressed. All members are to have their comments for changes to the Personnel Committee by January 17, 2024. Road projects were discussed. Supervisor Jones addressed the different townships road millages. Roads will continue to be a discussion item. Public Comment – questions were taken and answered.
