Call Meeting to Order Present: 5- Mayor Deanna R. Reed, Vice Mayor Sal Romero, Council Member Christopher B. Jones, Council Member George Hirschmann and Council Member Laura Dent Also Present: 3- City Manager Eric Campbell, City Attorney Chris Brown and Deputy City Manager Ande Banks 2. Welcome/Session Overview A. Tyler St. Clair, facilitator, welcomed City Council members and staff to the retreat and provided an overview of the purpose of the retreat. She stated that the retreat would focus on forming a cohesive vision for the City. She then reviewed the local elected leadership model. 3. Team Building Council members and staff participated in team building sessions, including a review of Myers Briggs types, to enhance knowledge of each other and to better understand what each values in policy making and community building. 4. Assessment A. Tyler St. Clair led City Council members through a discussion of the major changes in the Harrisonburg community, our country, and the world since City Council’s February 2019 retreat. 5. Reaffirm Council's Vision A. Tyler St. Clair led City Council members through a review of the City Council 2039 vision adopted after the last City Council retreat. She clarified the Vision ’s purpose, how it was developed, and its format. City Council members discussed the vision and made some suggested changes. City Council members requested for City staff to draft a new section for its consideration surrounding the natural environment and climate.
