Parks and Recreation Board
AGENDA ITEM REPORT
MEETING: Parks and Recreation Board - 13 Nov 2024
CONTACT: James Tucker, Public Works DEPARTMENT: Public Works
Director
SUBJECT: City Parks Update
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Community Park & Nance Field got wood chips(fibar) added to the fall zones. This is normal
maintenance but its been needed for a while
Gammill Park Play Equipment is scheduled to ship to the site around 12/16 so this needs to be
considered with decorating. We will need to have space for them to work in. The Pour in place is
temperature dependent and may have to be done in January.
Nance Field Handrails are being installed 11/7 – 11/8 so they should be done by the meeting
We are still waiting on the Tennis court locks but I’m being told tomorrow or first of next week and that
will be fully functional
We are starting design for drainage improvements for the creek crossing on the West walking trail and
under fm156. This is just the first step, for engineering to survey and design. But is absolutely needed I
was going to provide some updated pictures of how bad its gotten
We are adding park features to our GIS mapping. This is more an FYI thing and not really a feature for
park visitors. What this will do is allow us to map out Trees, memorial stones, benches, trash cans, etc..
and give us a visual accounting of assets and relevant information. Should make keeping up with
things much easier.
