STATED TOWN BOARD MEETING MARCH 6, 2018 The Town Board of the Town of Hempstead, New York, met at the Town Meeting Pavilion, Hempstead Town Hall, 1 Washington Street, Hempstead, New York, on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. Roll was called: PRESENT: LAURA A. GILLEN, Supervisor EDWARD A. AMBROSINO, Councilman BRUCE BLAKEMAN, Councilman ANTHONY P. D'ESPOSITO, Councilman DENNIS DUNNE, SR., Councilman DOROTHY L. GOOSBY, Senior Councilwoman ERIN KING SWEENEY, Councilwoman Members of the Town Board ALSO PRESENT: SYLVIA A. CABANA, Town Clerk GASPARE TUMMINELLO, Deputy Town Clerk JOSEPH J. RA, Town Attorney KEVIN CONROY, Town Comptroller DONALD X. CLAVIN, JR., Receiver of Taxes Supervisor Gillen asked Councilman D'Esposito to lead the assemblage in the Pledge of Allegiance to our flag. Supervisor Gillen was joined by Councilman Blakeman to honor Elizabeth Osowiecki of Franklin Square. Elizabeth was recognized for being in the forefront in educating so many on the issues of consent that women have been facing for years and combating situations that make women feel unsafe in any environment. Councilman Blakeman believes people like Elizabeth who are willing to stand up, take a position, and fight for women's rights are important role models within the Town of Hempstead. Supervisor Gillen presented Elizabeth with a citation and thanked her for her efforts in educating woman to speak up and speak out against this behavior. Supervisor Gillen honored two Town of Hempstead employees, Brendan Gersten and Damien Gallo, for having won gold medals at the Special Olympics.
