STATED TOWN BOARD MEETING JANUARY 22, 2019 The Town Board of the Town of Hempstead, New York, met at the Town Meeting Pavilion, Hempstead Town Hall, 1 Washington Street, Hempstead, New York, on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. Roll was called: PRESENT: LAURA A. GILLEN, Supervisor EDWARD A. AMBROSINO, Councilman BRUCE BLAKEMAN, Councilman ANTHONY P. D'ESPOSITO, Councilman DENNIS DUNNE, SR., Councilman DOROTHY L. GOOSBY, Senior Councilwoman ERIN KING SWEENEY, Councilwoman Members of the Town Board ALSO PRESENT: SYLVIA A. CABANA, Town Clerk DOLORES SEDACCA, Deputy Town Clerk JOSEPH J. RA, Town Attorney KEVIN CONROY, Town Comptroller Supervisor Gillen asked Councilman Ambrosino to lead the assemblage in the Pledge of Allegiance to our flag. Supervisor Gillen asked everyone to remain standing for a moment of silence in honor, for the loss of Joseph McMillian, Jr., brother of Senior Councilwoman Goosby. Councilwoman Goosby reminded everyone that the Town has a Breast Cancer Forum once a year and said she was happy to hear that Councilwoman King Sweeney was fine and that she would be fine. Councilman Blakeman made mention he hoped people would use the resources at Hewlett House which helps woman find resources on how to take care of themselves in terms of their health and thanked Councilwoman King Sweeney for her cander & courage. Supervisor Gillen concluded that she was sorry to hear of Councilwoman King Sweeney's diagnosis and was glad to hear of the positive outcome and that she was sure everybody oil the town board will share her advocacy in working in terms of raising awareness and reaching out in helping those suffering from that disease.
