STATED TOWN BOARD MEETING DECEMBER 10,2019 The Town Board of the Town of Hempstead, New York, met at the Town Meeting Pavilion, Hempstead Town Hall, I Washington Street, Hempstead, New York, on Tuesday, December I 0, 2019 at I 0:30 A.M. CAPOBIANCO, Acting Deputy Town Comptroller Town Board recognized George Burns, a Floral Park resident and former New York Nets Player and extraordinary athlete, teacher and coach who has left an indelible impact on the Town of Hempstead. George has been passing along his knowledge and wisdom for the game to the next generation of basketball stars at his youth sports camp in West Hempstead for the past four decades. In addition to his work in our town, for the past 17 years, George has coached the Manhasset Boys Varsity Basketball Team and led them to the Nassau County Championship during the 2010/2011 season. George is held in such high revere by his peers in the community. Congratulations was given to George and his wife Elaine on his lifetime of success and for sharing his gifts and experience with our children and families Supervisor Gillen asked Town Clerk Sylvia Cabana to lead the assemblage in the Pledge of Allegiance to our flag. Councilwoman Goosby said a few words of remembrance for the loss last week of Marie Catanese of Uniondale. Senior Councilwoman made mention that Marie along with her husband attended many Town Board Meetings and were very active in the community of Uniondale. Senior Councilwoman stated that she could always count on the Catanese couple to appraise her of anything needed in the community of Uniondale being the first ones to walk her through the community making sure she knew where they wanted to have the Uniondale Streetscape which the couple were very much involved, as well as founding of the Children's Farmhouse in Uniondale.
