SPECIAL TOWN BOARD MEETING AUGUST 31, 2023 The Town Board of the Town of Hempstead, New York, met at the Town Meeting Pavilion, Hempstead Town Hall, 1 Washington Street, Hempstead, New York, on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at 11 :30 A.M. Roll was called: PRESENT: DONALD X. CLAVIN, JR., Supervisor DENNIS DUNNE, SR., Councilmember DOROTHY L. GOOSBY, Deputy Supervisor MELISSA L. MILLER, Councilmember THOMAS A. MUSCARELLA, Councilmember LAURA A. RYDER, Councilmember Members of the Town Board ABSENT: CHRISTOPHER CARINI, Councilmember ALSO PRESENT: KATE MURRAY, Town Clerk SUSAN M. POKALSKY, Deputy Town Clerk JOHN L. MACCARONE, Town Attorney HON. JACK LIBERT, Chief of Staff JEANINE DRISCOLL, Receiver of Taxes Supervisor Clavin asked Receiver of Taxes Jeanine Driscoll to lead the assemblage in the Pledge of Allegiance to our flag. Supervisor Clavin asked Town Attorney John Maccarone ifhe would care to address the Board. The Town Attorney responded with a yes and addressed the Supervisor and Members of the Board. He stated that a significant amount oflitigation has already occurred regarding this matter, and that an issue has been raised as to the timing of this hearing. Town Attorney Maccarone stated he believed that this statement was without merit. However in an abundance of caution, he would ask that at the end of today's proceedings that this hearing continue until Wednesday, September 6'h at 10:30 a.m. He made it clear the premises are now closed and they will continue to be remain closed through the pendency of the hearing on Wednesday, adding "at this time Mr. Supervisor, based upon the fact that the Town Board considers this a very significant and serious issue, you are aware that we have retained outside Counsel to help us in this endeavor, and so at this time, I would like to call Mr. Joseph Macy to make a presentation". ** * * * ** * ** ** PUBLIC HEARINGS CASE NUMBERS & RESOLUTIONS 30958 DETERMINATION IF 434 Hempstead Turnpike, West Hempstead, N.Y.
