CITY OF HENDERSON CITIZENS TRAFFIC ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES August 21, 2014 I. CALL TO ORDER Chairman Slater called the meeting to order at 6:14 p.m., in the Council Chambers Conference Room, 240 Water Street, Henderson, Nevada. II. CONFIRMATION OF POSTING AND ROLL CALL April Parra, Council and Commission Services Reporter, confirmed the meeting had been posted in accordance with the Open Meeting Law by posting the agenda three working days prior to the meeting at the Multigenerational Center, City Hall, Whitney Ranch Recreational Center, and Fire Station No. 86. 6 Via Antincendio, Henderson, Nevada. In addition, copies of the agenda were mailed to each person having an item on the agenda and to all those on the Agenda Master Mailing List. PUBLIC COMMENT There were no comments presented by the public. IV. ACCEPTANCE OF THE AGENDA (Motion) Ms. Fabian introduced a motion to accept the agenda as presented. The vote favoring approval was unanimous. Chairman Slater declared the motion carried. V. NEW BUSINESS 1 MINUTES MAY 15, 2014 PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION Approve minutes of May 15, 2014. (Motion) Ms. Fabian introduced a motion to approve the minutes of May 15, 2014, meeting as presented. The vote favoring approval was unanimous. Chairman Slater declared the motion carried. 2 PUEBLO SPEED LIMIT STUDY PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION Review of Pueblo Boulevard speed limit study and possible action on modifying speed limit. John Penuelas, City Traffic Engineer, distributed a map of the proposed area and gave a presentation of the speed situation on Pueblo Boulevard. Areas of discussion included: Traffic Study Results, Speed Study Results, Crash Data, US Limits Speed Recommendations, and Staff Recommendations. Mr. Penuelas stated that staff recommends the speed limit on Pueblo Boulevard be posted at 35 miles per hour north of the curve; the curve be posted at 25 mph, and the placement of two curve warning signs to reinforce the speed limit. Responding to a question by Mr. Curry regarding lowering the speed limit in the area behind Basic High School, Mr. Penuelas said this could be designated a school zone and the speed lowered to 15 miles per hour. Citizens Traffic Advisory Board Page 3 of 3 Thursday, August 21, 2014 - Minutes (Motion) Chairman Slater introduced a motion to approve the staff recommendation as presented, with the addition of a school zone in the area behind Basic High School. The vote favoring approval was unanimous. Chairman Slater declared the motion carried. Mr. Penuelas noted that they might be able to get the school zone installed next week in time for the first week of school. VI. CHAIRMAN\MEMBER COMMENTS There were no comments presented by the Chairman or Members. VII. SET NEXT MEETING The next meeting of the Citizens Traffic Advisory Board was scheduled for September 18, 2014, at 6:00 p.m., in the Council Chambers Conference Room, Henderson City Hall, 240 Water Street, Henderson, Nevada. VIII. PUBLIC COMMENT There were no comments presented by the public. IX.
