I. CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Hafen called the Special Meeting to order on January 3, 2012, at
6:22 p.m. in the Council Chambers, City Hall, 240 Water Street, Henderson,
Nevada 89015.
II. CONFIRMATION OF POSTING AND ROLL CALL
The City Clerk confirmed the Special Meeting had been noticed in compliance
with the Open Meeting Law by posting the Agenda prior to 9:00 a.m. three
working days before the meeting at City Hall, the Paseo Verde Library, the
Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, and Fire Station No. 86, and by mailing a copy
of the Agenda to everyone appearing thereon and on the Master Agenda mailing
list.

III. ACCEPTANCE OF AGENDA
(Motion)
Mayor Andy Hafen moved to accept the agenda as presented.
The roll call vote favoring passage was: Those voting aye: Andy Hafen,
Sam Bateman, Gerri Schroder, and Debra March. Those voting nay: None.
Those absent: None. Those abstaining: None. Mayor Hafen declared the
motion carried.
IV. ITEMS OF BUSINESS
S-1 OATH OF OFFICE CITY ATTORNEY
CITY CLERK'S OFFICE
Administer Oath of Office to newly appointed City Attorney, Josh M. Reid.
Sabrina Mercadante, City Clerk, administered the Oath of Office to Josh M. Reid.
Josh Reid, City Attorney, thanked the City Council for this opportunity to serve
in the City of Henderson. He noted that the transition has been smooth due to
the great staff in the City Attorney’s Office. He acknowledged that Christine
Guerci-Nyhus, Interim City Attorney, did a wonderful job in moving forward.
He also thanked his family for their support.
V. PUBLIC COMMENT
Sebring Frehner, 1340 Cedar Berry Court, asked the City to support an
emergency resolution, drafted by the Occupy Movement, pertaining to the
foreclosure problem throughout the valley. He submitted a copy of this
resolution into the record.
VI. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Council, Mayor Hafen, in
concurrence with the Council, adjourned the Special Meeting at 6:29 p.m.

The Mayor reserves the right to hear agenda items out of order, combine two or more

noted.
Public comment will be taken on each agenda item as it is heard. If you desire to provide
public comment on an agenda item, please complete a yellow speaker card and submit it to
the City Clerk prior to the item being heard. Individuals speaking on an item will be limited to
three (3) minutes and spokespersons for a group will be limited to ten (10) minutes.
