CITY OF HENDERSON CITY COUNCIL MINUTES SPECIAL MEETING Tuesday, September 19, 2017 I. CALL TO ORDER Mayor March called the Special Meeting to order at 5:43 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 240 Water Street, Henderson, Nevada 89015. Mayor March announced that this meeting is being video recorded and streamed to the Internet. II. CONFIRMATION OF POSTING AND ROLL CALL The City Clerk confirmed the Special Meeting had been noticed in compliance with the Open Meeting Law by posting the Agenda three working days prior to the meeting at City Hall, the Multigenerational Center, the Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, Fire Station No. 86, the Nevada Public Notice Website, the City of Henderson Website, and by mailing a copy of the Agenda to everyone appearing thereon on the Agenda Master Mailing List. Present: Debra March, Mayor Dan K. Shaw, Councilman Gerri Schroder, Councilwoman John F. Marz, Councilman Dan H. Stewart, Councilman Absent: None Officers: Gregory Blackburn, Assistant City Manager Sabrina Mercadante, City Clerk Josh Reid, City Attorney Absent: Robert Murnane, City Manager Staff: Richard Derrick, Chief Financial Officer Robert Herr, Director of Public Works, Parks & Recreation Michael Tassi, Assistant Community Dev. and Services Director Tedie Jackson, Council and Commission Services Reporter Alyssa Perea, Deputy City Clerk Henderson City Council Special Meeting Page 2 of 3 Tuesday, September 19, 2017 – Minutes III. PUBLIC COMMENT There were no public comments presented. IV. ACCEPTANCE OF AGENDA (Motion) Councilman Dan H. Stewart moved to accept the agenda as presented. The roll call vote favoring passage was: Those voting aye: Debra March, John F. Marz, Gerri Schroder, Dan K. Shaw, and Dan H. Stewart. Those voting nay: None. Those absent: None. Those abstaining: None. Mayor March declared the motion carried. V. ITEMS OF BUSINESS S-1 APPOINTMENT SHAWN WHITE, FIRE CHIEF CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE Ratification of the City Manager's appointment of Shawn White as Fire Chief. (Motion) Councilman John F. Marz moved to ratify the City Manager's appointment of Shawn White as Fire Chief. The roll call vote favoring passage was: Those voting aye: Debra March, John F. Marz, Gerri Schroder, Dan K. Shaw, and Dan H. Stewart. Those voting nay: None. Those absent: None. Those abstaining: None. Mayor March declared the motion carried. S-2 OATH OF OFFICE SHAWN WHITE, FIRE CHIEF CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE Oath of Office for Shawn White, Fire Chief. Sabrina Mercadante, City Clerk, administered the Oath of Office to Shawn White, Fire Chief. Chief White thanked his family, coworkers, and the City Council for their support. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to come before the Council, Mayor March, in concurrence with the Council, adjourned the Special Meeting at 5:51 p.m. A reception honoring Chief White was held in the Council Chambers Conference Room.
