MINUTES
December 1, 2014
I. CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson Peggy Treese called the Civil Service Board meeting to order at
5:25 p.m., in the Mayor and Council Board Room, City Hall, 240 Water Street,
Henderson, Nevada.
II. CONFIRMATION OF POSTING AND ROLL CALL
Ms. Jackson confirmed the meeting had been posted in accordance with the
Open Meeting Law by posting the agenda three working days prior to the
meeting at City Hall, Multigenerational Center, Whitney Ranch Recreational
Center, and Fire Station No. 86.

IV. ACCEPTANCE OF AGENDA
(Motion) Mr. Simmons introduced a motion to accept the agenda as
presented, seconded by Mr. Gill. The vote favoring approval was
unanimous. Chairperson Treese declared the motion carried.
V. NEW BUSINESS
1. APPEAL HEARING
ALBERT JOHNSON
Appeal of Albert Johnson’s termination of employment. Argument and
discussion will be held in Closed Session pursuant to NRS 241.030 (May be
waived by Albert Johnson). If and when any final action is taken, it will be
conducted in open session.
Chairperson Treese stated that this is the time and the place set for the Civil
Service Board for the City of Henderson hearing on the City’s decision to
terminate Albert Johnson, effective October 8, 2014, for disciplinary reasons in
accordance with the City Civil Service Rules 6.40.020. This hearing will be
conducted pursuant to Chapter 6.44.050 through 6.44.070 of the City Civil
Service Rules. She noted that this hearing will be held in closed session
pursuant to NRS 241.030, unless Mr. Johnson wants to waive his rights under
that statute.
Mr. Johnson declined waiving his rights under NRS 241.030.
(Motion) Mr. Gill introduced a motion to close the session at 5:26 p.m.,
seconded by Mr. Simmons. The vote favoring approval was
unanimous. Chairperson Treese declared the motion carried.
Note: The open session was recessed at 5:26 p.m., at which time
the appeal hearing of Albert Johnson was discussed in a
confidential closed session.
Note: The open session was called back to order at 6:38 p.m., at which
time the remaining items on the agenda were completed.
(Motion) Mr. Weidauer introduced a motion to uphold the disciplinary action
of the City of Henderson in the appeal of Albert Johnson as being
justified, seconded by Mr. Gill. The vote favoring approval was
unanimous. Chairperson Treese declared the motion carried.

The next meeting date was not set at this time.

the meeting at 6:40 p.m.
