CITY OF HENDERSON COMMEMORATIVE BEAUTIFICATION COMMISSION AGENDA REGULAR MEETING Tuesday, October 11, 2016 Parks and Recreation Conference Room 6:00 PM 105 West Basic Road Meeting Inquiries: (702) 267-4027 Henderson, Nevada 89015 NOTICE Notice to persons with special needs: For those requiring special assistance or accommodation to attend or participate in this meeting, arrangements for a sign language interpreter or services necessary for effective communication for qualified persons with disabilities should be made as soon as possible, but no later than 72 hours before the scheduled event. UNFINISHED BUSINESS UB-1 PURCHASE STREET BANNERS PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION For Possible Action. RECOMMENDATION: Approve The Commission members will vote on funds up to $5,000 to purchase street banners and hardware for the new fiscal year. UB-2 SHIRTS FOR COMMEMORATIVE BEAUTIFICATION COMMISSION (CBC) MEMBERS AND STAFF PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION For Possible Action. RECOMMENDATION: Approve Members will vote on purchasing shirts with Commemorative Beautification Commission (CBC) logo for CBC Members and City Staff. VI. NEW BUSINESS NB-3 MINUTES, SEPTEMBER 13, 2016 For Possible Action. RECOMMENDATION: Adopt Adopt the minutes from the September 13, 2016, Regular Meeting. NB-4 ELECTION CHAIRPERSON PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION For Possible Action. RECOMMENDATION: Elect Commission members will elect a Chairperson. RECOMMENDATION: Elect Commission members will elect a Vice-chairperson. NB-6 CORRECTIVE ACTION PRESENTATION, REVIEW, AND DISCUSSION OF RECOMMENDED AMENDMENTS TO THE COMMEMORATIVE BEAUTIFICATION COMMISSION'S BYLAWS PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION For Possible Corrective Action. RECOMMENDATION: Refer to the next CBC meeting to be held in November. At the May 10, 2016, Commemorative Beautification Commission (CBC) meeting the attachments published for this item were inadvertently missing the even-numbered pages, subsequently requiring the presentation, review, and discussion of recommended amendments to the CBC's Bylaws to be reintroduced for a first review at this meeting and referred to the next CBC meeting, to be held in November for adoption. Proposed amendments include but are not limited to making bylaws consistent with Henderson Municipal Code chapter 2.50, giving the CBC more flexibility regarding when it can hold meetings, creating a process for meeting cancellations, addressing agendas and minutes, clarifying meeting procedures, and using defined terms consistently. NB-7 COMMEMORATIVE BEAUTIFICATION COMMISSION MEETING DATE CHANGE PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION For Possible Action. RECOMMENDATION: Approve Reschedule the Commemorative Beautification Commission meeting of Tuesday, November 8, 2016, to Wednesday, November 9, 2016. Commemorative Beautification Commission Page 4 of 5 Tuesday, October 11, 2016 - Agenda NB-8 STAFF REPORTS PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION Staff representative will provide information on the Commission Budget, Municipal Forestry Report, Clean-up Trailer Program, Banners and Flags, and Staff Announcements. NB-9 HOLIDAY DECORATING CONTEST AWARDS PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION For Possible Action. RECOMMENDATION: Approve Vote on funds for the Holiday Decorating Contest awards not to exceed $600. NB-10 WINTERFEST PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION For Possible Action. RECOMMENDATION: Approve Members will vote on funds for Winterfest not to exceed $1,500. NB-11 COMMUNITY PRIDE PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION For Possible Action. RECOMMENDATION: Approve Commission members will discuss and approve Community Pride Award nominations. NB-12 VOLUNTEER HOURS PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION Commission members will report the number of volunteer hours they completed.
