REGULAR MEETING
Tuesday, September 11, 2018
I. CALL TO ORDER
Vice Chairman Gina Denney called the Commemorative Beautification
Commission to order at 6:06 p.m. at 105 West Basic Road in the Facilities
Management Conference Room.
II. CONFIRMATION OF POSTING AND ROLL CALL
Joanne Wershba, Recording Secretary, confirmed the Commemorative
Beautification Commission had been noticed in compliance with the Open
Meeting Law by posting the Agenda three working days prior to the meeting at
the Facilities Management Building, City Hall, the Multigenerational Center, the
Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, Fire Station No. 86, the Nevada Public
Notice Website, the City of Henderson Website, and by emailing a copy of the
Agenda to everyone appearing thereon on the Agenda Master Mailing List.

III. PUBLIC COMMENT
There were no public comments presented.
IV. ACCEPTANCE OF AGENDA
(Motion) Mr. Cortney introduced a motion to accept the agenda as
presented. The vote favoring approval was unanimous.
Vice Chairman Gina declared the motion carried.
V. NEW BUSINESS
NB-1 WATER STREET HOLIDAY DECORATING CONTEST
PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION
Commission members will discuss and vote on continuing the Water Street
Holiday Decorating Contest.
Preston Goodman, Staff Liaison and Municipal Forester, presented a summary
of this item, and noted staff recommends keeping the process the same for this
year.
Mr. Cortney commented that he enjoyed the decorating contest last year, and
agreed to keep the process the same.
(Motion) Ms. Park introduced a motion to continue the Water Street Holiday
Decorating Contest procedure. The vote favoring approval was
unanimous. Vice Chairman Denney declared the motion carried.
NB-2 THEME FOR WATER STREET HOLIDAY DECORATING CONTEST
PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION
Commission members will vote on a theme for the Water Street Holiday
Decorating Contest.
Preston Goodman, Staff Liaison and Municipal Forester, noted that staff
recommends keeping the theme the same as last year, “Winter Wonderland.”
(Motion) Mr. Cortney introduced a motion to approve the theme for the
2018 Water Street Holiday Decorating Contest to be
“Winter Wonderland.” The vote favoring approval was unanimous.

NB-3 COMMUNITY PRIDE COMMEMORATION PROGRAM DETERMINATION
PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION
Commission members will discuss the Community Pride Commemoration
program and determine and vote on any Community Pride Award nominations.
There were no new nominations submitted.
Ms. Park suggested nominating the new Henderson Hospital with the
Community Pride Award. She will fill out a nomination form and submit it to
staff. Staff will review the nomination to ensure all the necessary information is
provided, and add this item to the next meeting agenda for discussion.
NB-4 STAFF REPORTS
PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION
Staff Representatives will provide information on the Commission budget,
Municipal Forestry Report, Arbor Day Report, Clean-up Trailer program,
banners, flags, and announcements and respond to questions from Commission
members.
Preston Goodman, Staff Liaison and Municipal Forester, reviewed the budget
sheet, and noted $250.00 was carried over from Arbor Day donations.
Mr. Goodman commented that City staff maintains the inventory in the
Clean-Up Trailer, and the Commission will discuss trailer costs at the next
meeting. There are currently two reservations for the Clean-Up Trailer for
Project Green.
Mr. Goodman reported that due to the major storm event this year, staff is
working on a strategic assessment plan to replace over 100 trees that were
knocked down.
VI. CHAIRMAN\MEMBER COMMENTS
Staff noted that elections for chair and vice chair will be conducted at the next
meeting.
VII. SET NEXT MEETING
The next meeting was set for October 9, 2018, at 6:00 p.m.

limited to three (3) minutes and spokespersons for a group will be limited to ten (10) minutes
at the discretion of the Chairman. The Chairman reserves the right to curtail abusive,
offensive, inflammatory or repetitive comments that disrupt, disturb or otherwise impede the
orderly conduct of the meeting. In addition, any person willfully disrupting the meeting may
be removed from the room by the presiding officer. See NRS 241.030(4)(a). Examples of
disruptive conduct include, without limitation, yelling, stamping of feet, whistles, applause,
heckling, name calling, use of profanity, personal attacks, physical intimidation, threatening
use of physical force, assault, battery, or any other acts intended to impede the meeting or
infringe on the rights of the board and/or committee members, City staff, or meeting
participants.
