November 2, 2016
I. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting of the Parks and Recreation Board was called to order by
Chairman Jim Perkins at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers Conference
Room, 240 Water Street, Henderson, Nevada.

II. CONFIRMATION OF POSTING
Paula Harris, Recording Secretary, confirmed the Parks and Recreation Board
had been noticed in compliance with the Open Meeting Law by posting the
agenda three working days prior to the meeting at City Hall, the
Multigenerational Center, the Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, Fire Station
No. 86, the Nevada Public Notice Website, the City of Henderson Website, and
by mailing a copy of the agenda to everyone appearing thereon on the Agenda
Master Mailing List.
III. PUBLIC COMMENT
There were no comments presented by the public.
IV. ACCEPTANCE OF AGENDA
(Motion) Ms. Nelson introduced a motion to accept the agenda, as
presented. The vote favoring approval was unanimous.
Chairman Perkins declared the motion carried.
V. NEW BUSINESS
NB-1 MINUTES
SEPTEMBER 7, 2016
Adopt the minutes of the September 7, 2016, board meeting
Jones, unanimous
(Motion) Ms. Nelson introduced a motion to adopt the minutes of
September 7, 2016, as presented. The vote favoring approval
was unanimous. Chairman Perkins declared the motion carried.
NB-2 PRESENTATION
DOWNTOWN OPEN SPACE MASTER PLAN
Erin Reiswerg, Park Planner, will give a presentation on the City's Downtown
Open Space Master Plan.
Erin Reiswerg, Park Planner, gave a PowerPoint presentation on the
Downtown Open Space Master Plan. Areas of discussion included: Project
Location, Project Focus, Project Overview, Public Input Phase, and Board Input.

NB-3 PRESENTATION
CITY DOG PARKS
Staff will give a presentation on the number of dog parks and the associated
dog areas within these parks.
Amie Wojtech, Park Project Manager, gave a brief presentation Henderson dog
parks.
NB-3 STAFF REPORT
Announcements of upcoming grand openings, ground breakings, special
events, awards, and/or programs.
Sheri Ferguson, Asst. Director of Public Works, Parks and Recreation,
presented the staff report which highlighted upcoming events at
Henderson Parks and Recreation facilities.
VI. CHAIRMAN\MEMBER COMMENTS:
Mr. Holman gave an update on various trails throughout the area. He also
noted an increasing occurrence of misuse of the River Mt. Loop Trail by
motorcycles and ATVs. He said that it has become an issue and enforcement
is needed at that location. It was the consensus of the Board that this item be
placed on next month’s agenda.
Chairman Perkins requested an update on new parks under construction.
Ms. Nelson requested an update on Union Village at next month’s meeting.
VII. SET NEXT MEETING:
The next meeting was set for December 7, 2016, at 6:00 p.m.
VIII. PUBLIC COMMENT
There were no comments presented by the public.
IX. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Board,
Chairman Perkins adjourned the meeting at 6:28 p.m.
