Regular Meeting City of Hendersonville Animal Services Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes | March 18, 2021 – 5:30 p.m. HPD Police Assembly Room | 160 6th Ave. E. | Hendersonville NC 28792 1. Call to Order Meeting was called to order at 5:33 p.m. by Member Connie Stewart. Member’s present Were Caroline Gunther, Chair; Angela Prodrick, Vice Chair; Jean Greeson; Dr. Pat Gallaghan; Connie Stewart; Sarah Hoffman. City Staff present were Rich Olsen, Captain of Patrol Services; Chief of Police Blair Myhand and Melissa Justus, Secretary. Member Connie Stewart left the meeting at 6:29 pm. Members Barbara Burke and Alexa Arnold were absent. Joy Edwards joined the meeting at 5:38 pm after a consensus of the committee allowing her to do so. 2. Adoption of 02-18-2021 Meeting Minutes Vice Chair Angela Prodrick moved to approve the minutes of the February 18, 2021 meeting. A unanimous vote of the Committee followed. 3. Development of educational materials by Blue Ridge Humane Society Vice Chair Angela Prodrick is putting together some educational pieces on spay and neuter in conjunction with the Blue Ridge Humane Society. These educational pieces will be used to possibly help cut down on criminal charges for violations. 4. Board Survey Questions and Discussion Committee discussed and decided on 5 survey questions that would be of importance to residents concerning their pets. The questions will be submitted to Allison Justus so that she may design a sample survey that the residents of Hendersonville can participate in. [1] 5. Animal related Calls for Service information from Captain Rich Olsen/HPD Captain Olsen went over the total number of Calls for Service that were “Animal Related” for the year of 2020, with the top CFS being Strays at 280 versus 330 in 2019. 6. New Business for April 15, 2021 Meeting • Develop clear plan of survey (Who/What/When/How) and have a sample • Brief discussion of workplan with data provided by HPD • Animals at Special Events • Civil penalties from City Attorney, Angie Beeker • Report on educational pieces and where we are with those items 7. Adjourn There being no further business Vice Chair Angela Prodrick moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:16 p.m. [2]
