CITY OF HENDERSONVILLE TREE BOARD MEETING City Operations Center - Second Floor Meeting Room | 305 Williams St., Hendersonville, NC 28792 Monday, May 04, 2026 – 4:00 PM MINUTES CALL TO ORDER Meeting called to order at 4:30 p.m. when quorum was reached. Present: Ed Skvarch, Glenn Lange, Bill Leatherwood, Skye Williams, and Tommy Oakman. Absent: Natalie Wilcoxen and Richard Bowerman. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Tommy motioned to approve first followed by Glenn APPROVAL OF MINUTES Glenn motioned to approve first followed by Ed for the April 2026 meeting minutes BUSINESS Discuss Neighborwoods Long Term Planning - all members - A working draft was created for the program and will be emailed out to members after the meeting for any remaining revisions. At the next meeting the board will vote to approve the changes. Vote on new Chair and Vice Chair - all members - Glenn nominated himself as Chair – unanimous approval - Ed nominated himself as Vice Chair – unanimous approval Discuss upcoming outreach and capacity of board to take on - Glenn Lange, Member - The board decided to not participate in Garden Jubilee this year but plan on next year. - The board would also like to host a few tree and pollinator shrub/plant giveaways during the year. This would also be a way to focus Neighborwoods on actual neighborhood groups and route individuals to participate in a general giveaway. - The board is tentatively planning on being at the farmers market the first or second Saturday in June. Glenn will reach out to Dakota, Downtown Coordinator on reserving a spot. The date will be based on when the free trees from the Arbor Day Foundation come in for giving away. Changing TB Monthly Meeting to First Monday of the Month - Glenn Lange, Member - Unanimous approval. Caitlyn will remind members of the new time. Discuss drafting script for downtown tree tours hosted by Tree Board members - Tommy Oakman TREE BOARD MEETING – May 04, 2026 Page | 1  - Members are in agreement to host a few downtown tree tours throughout the year. At the next Tree Board meeting the board will tentatively finalize their event schedule for FY27. Tree Planting at Keith Park and City of Hendersonville Right of Way Properties - Ed is finalizing the planting plans for Public Works approval. He will email that to Kevin with property maintenance, krhodes@hvlnc.gov and Mike Huffman, mhuffman@hvlnc.gov Joint Tree Board and Environmental Sustainability Board meeting - Glenn is looking at the first week in June but confirming with Arielle from Henderson County.
