Adjournment 1  Deer Monitoring & Control Commitee Minutes 2/20/2023 The Mee�ng was called to order by the Chairman, Jerold Barret at 6:30pm Present were Jerold Barret, Mike Rowan, Sylvia Stumpfig, J. Riterbeck, Colin Zimmerman, Pam, Kerzner, Mike Forester, William (Jake) Moore, Jason, Travis, Emily Tipcord,, Mark Burgdorf, Casy Lamar, James Flockencier, David Creager. The agenda was approved. Invoca�on given by Mark Burgdorf. The Chairman welcomed new member Charlles Travis represen�ng Ward 2. The Chairman gave his report for 2023 reviewing the progress made by the commitee and that a quorum was meet for all mee�ngs. Emily Tipsord, Board Laison reviewed her responsibili�es which include ge�ng the approved minutes forwarded to public records, scheduling mee�ngs, crea�ng and pos�ng sign-up sheets for those members of the public that wished to make comments during the mee�ng. Also coordina�ng with HPD and invi�ng TWRA to atend each mee�ng. The Chairman reviewed the public speaking rules before opening it for speaking. Jake Moore spoke, reminding all that the deer herd was healthy, we have reduced its territory with building and that in discussions with TRWA, they said that they were not aware of a single deer death due to supplemental feeding. Casey Lamar presented the dra� foldout piece and asked if we had a budget for distribu�on. It was discussed a direct mailer would be prohibi�ve within current funding available, cos�ng needed nearly $30,000 to support prin�ng & distribu�on A review of the dra� foldout piece was conducted with each member contribu�ng their thoughts. Pam, looks good. Slyvia, state in foldout that TWRA will not allow us to cull the herd as the majority of those that took the survey wanted. Suggested adding cost dollars to problem and add approved plants, what not to plant, etc. Mike, had no comments. Jerald had no comments. 2 James felt it lacked facts and a minimum we needed to refer people to our web site where we would post our research and facts on sugges�ons and statements. Charles liked it as is. Emily add numbers of accidents involving deer in city. Jay use web site for data. Colin no comments. Jake Moore asked if the “no deer have been know to die of supplemental feeding would be in the foldout. No response was given. It was moved and seconded that we approve the foldout subject to an�cipated revisions to be reviewed at the next mee�ng. The mo�on passed by accord. It was moved and seconded to extend the mee�ng by 10 minutes. The mo�on was passed. Ac�on items for this year: Charles suggested we explore having builders be required to use deer resistant and na�ve plants for 50% of plan�ngs in new construc�on. The mee�ng was adjourned at 7:40 pm.
