Minutes of Regular Council Meeting Minutes of Special Council Meeting May 19, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Larry Haver. The Pledge of Allegiance was repeated by all present.  Present were:, Council members, Mick Pocratsky, Mike Barth, Bruce Hart, Ron Beverly & Mike Headley; and Clerk/Treasurer, Diane Collins. Council member Ron Jones was absent. No residents were present. The meeting was called to order to discuss purchasing property at 105 East Smith Street, a/k/a/ the school property. Following are some of the comments made by residents to council members and the council members themselves: The property should be purchased by the village for a future complex containing all departments under one roof. If the school sold the lots off to build houses the village would be receiving property tax revenue. Mike Headley heard from two residents that did not have a problem with condominiums in the area. The school plans to sell the lots for $35,000 each. It would not be good to have an empty lot sitting around for years. It the school sold off lots they could be sitting empty for years before being sold. How would it look for the village to purchase it when we have taken measures to reduce spending in other areas? Do we have zoning issues if we purchase the property? What would happen with our current buildings if we built one large complex for all departments? Purchase the property now as we’ll never have another opportunity to purchase it in the future. The property could be used for special venues. We could always sell the property if we had to. It was noted there are various sewers across the property. Beverly moved to instruct Mayor Haver to go to the school and offer to purchase the property at 105 East Smith Street. Barth seconded. Headley, Barth, Hart & Beverly voted yes. Pocratsky voted no. Pocratsky made a motion to adjourn. Headley seconded. All voted yes.
