Village Board Meeting Minutes August 24, 2020 Present: Mayor Lee, Trustees Zabelny, Fowler, Speer Village Manager/Clerk Shari Pearce Superintendent, Keith Brown Absent: Trustee Fay Mayor Lee called the meeting to order at 5 p.m. with the pledge of allegiance followed by a moment of silence. Resolution to accept the retirement of Mechanic, Jim Liese, effective, August 28, 2020. Motion made by Trustee Fowler, seconded by Trustee Zabelny. Carried 4-0. Resolution to hire Jim Liese back to the Village on a part-time basis for mechanical help at $32.53 per hour. Motion made by Trustee Fowler, seconded by Trustee Zabelny, carried 4-0. Since the retirement of Mike McHenry, the board recommends promoting Asst. Superintendent, Keith Brown to Superintendent. Resolution to promote Keith Brown to Superintendent of Public Works. Motion made by Trustee Zabelny, seconded by Trustee Fowler, carried 4-0. Resolution to add two senior MEO positions to the Village’s civil service appendices. Motion made by Trustee Fowler, seconded by Trustee Speer, carried 4-0. 1 Resolution to reclassify DPW positions to reflect the job they are currently conducting. Motion made by Trustee Speer. Seconded by Trustee Fowler, carried 4-0. Greg Brothers – Senior MEO Jeff Pearce - Senior MEO Cody Kelly – MEO Nick Mucci – MEO Karen Weissenburger - MEO Russ Zurick - MEO Andy Steiger - MEO Superintendent, Keith Brown, is recommending the two senior motor equipment operators receive a $1.00 per hour increase. Keith noted these two employees have been acting in this role for several years. Resolution to authorize the Treasurer to increase the wages of Greg Brothers and Jeff Pearce $1.00 per hour as they are now both senior MEOs. Motion made by Trustee Speer, seconded by Trustee Fowler, carried 4-0. Full-time position: Superintendent, Keith Brown, has requested part-time office help over at the DPW. Vick Taylor works part -time at the office. Shari has recommended promoting Vicky Taylor as a full-time Village employee. She will job share between both departments. Vicky has been employed by the Village for over 24 years. Resolution that Vicky Taylor be promoted to a full time Village employee effective, August 26, 2020. Motion made by Trustee Fowler, seconded by Trustee Speer, carried unanimously 4-0. Minutes Resolution to approve the meeting minutes of August 6, 2020 as presented. Trustee Speer made the motion, seconded by Trustee Fay. Carried 4-0. Resolution to approve the meeting minutes of August 11, 2020 as amended. Trustee Speer made the motion, seconded by Trustee Fowler, carried 4-0. 2  Executive session Resolution made by Trustee Fowler to enter executive session to discuss Keith Brown’s wages at 5:30 p.m. Trustee Speer seconded the motion, carried 4-0. Resolution made by Trustee Fowler to exit out of executive session at 6:10 p.m. Trustee Speer seconded the motion, carried 4-0. Resolution to increase Keith Browns wage $3,000 effective immediately.
