BOROUGH OF HO-HO-KUS WORK SESSION OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL May 16, 2017-7:30 PM AGENDA Mayor Randall called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM. The opening statement was read. This is a work session of the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Ho-Ho-Kus, and members of the public are welcome to be present at this meeting. Under Chapter 80, Public Laws of 2002, Public Comment is allowed at this meeting. The comment period placement is established by the Mayor and Council. The governing body has the discretion to set the length of time for public comment. At Roll all members were present. Also present were Borough Administrator Bill Jones and Attorney David Bole. PRESENTATION Noah Langevin and Alexi Argyros came before the governing body to present their project at the Hermitage. PRESENTATION County Clerk John Hogan presented the Mayor with a plaque and a poster board display of archived documents of the Borough. Mr. Hogan also discussed the “Around the County Initiative” project. CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES 1. April 18, 2017 Work Session 2. April 25, 2017 Public Session ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT Saddle Brook culvert closed for emergency repairs. Total cost to project is estimated at $100K. Does not need to go out to bid since it’s an emergency project, three quotes will be received. PUBLIC DISCUSSION COMMITTEE REPORTS- April 2017 On File CORRESPONDENCE • 2017 Environmental Joint Insurance Fund Audit • Board of Chosen Freeholders: Resolution # 410-17- Recognizing May 2017 as Older Americans Month Resolution # 411-17-Recognizing May 2017 as Asian American/Pacific Islander Heritage Month • Letter from 8th graders service project Nicholas Mastandrea, James DeMedici, & Nico Berlingeri requesting a veteran’s plaque • Letter of resignation from Robert Evans DPW effective immediately ( dated May 12th) INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCE • Ord# 2017-06 “Bond Ordinance” • Ord # 2017-07 “Vehicles and Traffic” FINAL PASSAGE OF ORDINANCE None RESOLUTIONS • Emergency Culvert Repair • Forgiveness of Solid Waste • Payment of Vouchers CONSENT RESOLUTION None OLD BUSINESS A. Liaison Reports: 1. Recreation None 2. Board of Education Councilmember Iannelli reported: Reviewed school budget. Discussed the reasoning and rationale for 2% over the cap budget. Additional $ 400K to be placed on the Ballot in November 2017 3. Other a. Ambulance b. Library B. Shade Tree Trees are planted to replace the ones lost in Hurricane Sandy. C. Chamber of Commerce Taste of Ho-Ho-Kus June 7th. Tickets are selling fast. Purchase online or at certain vendors. More information can be found on the Chamber Website. NEW BUSINESS None MAYOR'S REMARKS None CLOSED SESSION Contract Negotiations, Personnel ADJOURNMENT With no further discussions to the Council, Mayor Randall adjourned the meeting at 10:15PM.
