MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY CITY OF HOBART, LAKE COUNTY, INDIANA August 22, 2014 Call to Order – Moment of Silence: Mayor Snedecor called the meeting to order at 7:48 a.m. followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll Call: The following members were present: Mr. Lain, Mr. Ehrhardt and Mayor Snedecor. Also present: City Attorney DeBonis and Clerk-Treasurer Longer. Mrs. Longer stated there was no agenda prepared and the sole purpose of this meeting as stated on the Notice of the Special Meeting was to review the outstanding property acquisition claims for the 61st Avenue Project. Jake Dammarell, BF&S, presented three claims for consideration: Parcel # 52: St. Mary Medical Center, Inc.: $237,700.00 All documents on this parcel have been approved by the owners. Motion by Mr. Lain, seconded by Mr. Ehrhardt, to approve the claims for Parcel #52 for St. Mary Medical Center in the amount of $237,700.00. All aye, motion carried. (3-0) Parcel # 27: Thomas S. James: $12,700.00 and Thomas S. James and Wells Fargo N.A.: $36,000.00 The James agreement was reached yesterday and one of the two payment vouchers includes the mortgage holder for the property for a total amount for Parcel #27 of: $48,700.00. Motion by Mr. Lain, seconded by Mr. Ehrhardt, to approve the claim in the amount of $12,700.00 for Thomas S. James as partial payment for parcel #27. All aye, motion carried. (3-0) Motion by Mr. Ehrhardt, seconded by Mr. Lain, to approve the claim in the amount of $36,000.00 for Thomas S. James and Wells Fargo N.A. as payment for parcel #27. All aye, motion carried. (3-0) Parcel #60: Estate of Sarah Dorman Bailey: $2,850.00 Estate of Marion A. Stinson: $2,850.00 Estate of William F. Sykes: $2,850.00 Mr. Dammarell stated this parcel was appraised at $8,550.00 and it was recently determined that it was not part of the split of the land between the families. The three estate representatives are currently being contacted and BF&S recommends authorizing the payment of the appraised amount of $8,550.00, split three ways between the three estates. Motion by Mr. Ehrhardt, seconded by Mr. Lain, to approve the claims for Parcel #60 in an amount not to exceed a total of $8,550.00. All aye, motion carried. (3-0) Adjournment: There being no further business, a motion was made by Mr. Lain, seconded by Mr. Ehrhardt, to adjourn. All aye, motion carried.
