City of Hollywood Page 1 Special City Commission Meeting Meeting Minutes - Final May 21, 2019 ACTION: Motion was made by Commissioner Hernandez, which was seconded by Commissioner Sherwood, to adopt the Resolution appointing Louis Birdman in the architect category - District 1; Michael Murrazzi in the engineer category - District 3; Salvatore Grilli in the construction industry category - District 5; Molly Taylor in the sports league/recreation category - District 5; Stacey Kotzen in the chamber of commerce category - District 1; Lynn Smith in the finance industry category - District 2; Terrance Cantrell representing District 1; Christine Corbo representing District 2; Thomas Lander representing District 3; Lloyd Edelstein representing District 4; Annette Smith representing District 5; Richard Petrovich representing District 6; David Kout representing at-large District 2; and Daniel Derrico representing at-large District 6. ACTION: Motion was made by Commissioner Blattner, which was seconded by Commissioner Biederman, to adopt the Resolution appointing Jenny Adelman in the category of individual employed or previously employed by the private sector in a personnel administration position; Dr. Jalane Meloun in the category of individual employed or previously employed in the private sector in a non-management position; and Mitchell Anton in the catagory of employed or previously employed by a public employer. On a voice vote the motion passed unanimously. (7-0) 4. R-2019-127 A Resolution Of The City Commission Of The City Of Hollywood, Florida, Appointing Five Members To The Planning And Development Board. Leslie Del Monte, Planning Manager, explained the intent of the resolution. The following individuals expressed personal opinions/concerns: 1. Steven Morales, 7421 Buchanan Street 2. John Passalacqua, 4514 N Ocean Drive City of Hollywood Page 2 Special City Commission Meeting Meeting Minutes - Final May 21, 2019 ACTION: Motion was made by Commissioner Biederman, which was seconded by Commissioner Sherwood, to adopt the Resolution appointing Steven Morales, Andrew Yanowitz, and John Passalacqua, in the category of design member; Ken Crawford in the category of professional member; Nancy Gaggino and Diana Pittarelli in the category of citizen; with the City Clerk drawing lots to determine the terms. On a voice vote the motion passed unanimously. (7-0) 5. R-2019-128 A Resolution Of The City Commission Of The City Of Hollywood, Florida, Appointing Two Members To The Historic Preservation Board William Treece, 309 Crocus Terrace, expressed personal opinions/conerns. ACTION: Motion was made by Vice Mayor Callari, which was seconded by Commissioner Sherwood, to adopt the Resolution appointing Terry Cantrell in the hollywood historical society category; and William Treece in the alternate category. On a voice vote the motion passed unanimously. (7-0) 6. R-2019-129 A Resolution Of The City Commission Of The City Of Hollywood, Florida, Appointing Eight Members To The Neighborhood Watch Advisory Board. ACTION: Motion was made by Commissioner Sherwood, which was seconded by Commissioner Biederman, to adopt the Resolution appointing James Jackson in the category of Southeast Central; Peter Samuel in the category of Downtown; Marie Woodson in the category of Bouelvard Heights; Daniel Booton in the category of Beverly Park; and Heather Harmon in the category of Southwest Central. On a voice vote the motion passed unanimously. (7-0) 7. R-2019-130 A Resolution Of The City Commission Of The City Of Hollywood, Florida, Appointing Four Members To The Artwork Selection Committee. ACTION: Motion was made by Vice Chairperson Callari, which was seconded by Commissioner Sherwood, to adopt the Resolution appointing Sara Berke, Peter Samuel, and Suzanne Cutrone. On a voice vote the motion passed unanimously. (7-0) 8. R-2019-131 A Resolution Of The City Commission Of The City Of Hollywood, Florida, Appointing Six Members To The African American Advisory Council. City of Hollywood Page 3 Special City Commission Meeting Meeting Minutes - Final May 21, 2019 ACTION: Motion was made by Commissioner Blattner, which was seconded by Vice Mayor Callari, to adopt the Resolution appointing Diana Topacio Marrero, Shatoria Means, Henry Graham and Marie Woodson all in the member category; and appointing Bernard Isler, Amanee Tyson and Michael Hoffman all in the alternate member category; with the City Clerk drawing lots to determine the terms. On a voice vote the motion passed unanimously. (7-0) 9. R-2019-132 A Resolution Of The City Commission Of The City Of Hollywood, Florida, Appointing Three Members To The Marine Advisory Board. The following individuals expressed personal opinions/concerns: 1. Guy Silla, 4012 N 30 Avenue 2. Debra Case, 322 Buchanan Street Commissioner Biederman left the meeting at 5:20 PM. ACTION: Motion was made by Commissioner Hernandez, which was seconded by Commissioner Blattner, to adopt the Resolution appointing Richard Kniffin in the category of professional; and Debra Case and Guy Silla both in the caegory of member. On a voice vote the motion passed 6-0. Commissioner Biederman was absent. 10. R-2019-133 A Resolution Of The City Commission Of The City Of Hollywood, Florida, Appointing Four Members To The Young Circle ArtsPark Advisory Board. Commissioner Biederman returned to the meeting at 5:21 PM. The following individuals expressed personal opinions/concerns: 1. Steven Toth, 1926 Funston Street 2. Jon McMillian, 1955 Harrison Street 3. Robert Millwee, 1533 Adams Street David Vasquez, Interim Director of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts, explained the intent of the resolution. ACTION: Motion was made by Vice Mayor Callari, which was seconded by Commissioner Sherwood, to adopt the Resolution appointing Steven Toth in the category of visual arts field; Robert Milwee in the category of performing arts field; and Jon McMillian in the category of citizen-at-large. The following individuals expressed personal opinions/concerns: 1. Dianna Pittarelli, 201 Van Buren Street 2. Nancy Gaggino, 7900 Tatuem Waterway Drive Commissioner Shuham left the meeting at 5:33 PM and returned at 5:34 PM. Discussion ensued among members of the Commission. Anthony Grisby, Community Development Program Administrator, responded to questions raised. ACTION: Motion was made by Commissioner Sherwood, which was seconded by Vice Mayor Callari, to adopt the Resolution appointing Nancy Gaggino in the category of citizen engaged in home building; Sara Lavenka in the category of citizen engaged in banking or mortgage indistry; Stephanie Anderson in the category of citizen engaged as an advocate for low-income persons; Mohammad Reza Ronzi in the category of citizen engaged as a for-profit provided of affordable housing; Henry Graham in the category of citizen engaged as a not-for-profit provider of affordable housing; William Solano in the category of citizen who is a real estate professional; Bernard Isler in the category of citizen residing in the city; and Sonya Breland in the category of citizen who represents essential services personnel. On a voice vote the motion passed 5-0. Vice Mayor Callari and Commissioner Hernandez were absent. 14. R-2019-137 A Resolution Of The City Commission Of The City Of Hollywood, Florida, Appointing Five Members To The Green Team Advisory Committee.
