MINUTES HOT SPRINGS ARTS ADVISORY COMMITTEE March 8, 2022 12:00 PM 111 Opera Street, Suite A 1. Roll Call of Committee Members Committee Members present: Dale Blackwelder, Alix Stafford, June Simmons, Nan Cameron, JoAnn Mangione, Kara Gunter and Eli Vega. Staff: Anthony Whittington. 2. Approval of the Agenda June made a motion to approve the March 8, 2022 agenda. Nan seconded. Motion passed. 3. Approval of the Minutes June made a motion to approve the February 8, 2021 minutes. Nan seconded. Motion passed. 4. Introduction of Guests Mary Zunick, Angie Ezekiel and Angie Griggs 5. BUSINESS: A. Mosaic Planter Donation to City: Mary Zunick spoke to the committee about the donation of the Henry Glover Planter. It is being done by the owner of Mosaic Madness in Hot Springs. The planter will be 32” in diameter, 27” tall and it must be placed indoors at a city facility. Anthony said he is currently inquiring at various city buildings and will have a list to choose from at the next meeting. B. Art Moves Hot Springs: Mary Zunick mentioned that she would like to add four more pieces to the project along the Hot Springs Creek Greenway Trail. Anthony said he would get with Parks Maintenance and set up a time for them to meet with Mary to flag the locations and prep the spaces. C. David F. Watkins Memorial Park Mural Project: Members of the Park Ave. Community Association attended the meeting and presented the idea for a mural project to be done at the park. Staff will look at cost of 4x4 posts and 4x8 sheets of marine grade plywood. The mural will be installed in time for the Arts in the Parks Festival in May. D. Grants, Fundraising Suggestions: Kara Parks spoke of potential grant opportunities. Entergy has microgrants up to $11,000 Walmart has grants for $2,500-$5,000 Arvest Bank – contact is Don Gooch National Endowment for the Arts Grants Bloomberg Philanthropy-Art Challenge 6.
