MINUTES HOT SPRINGS ARTS ADVISORY COMMITTEE January 10, 2023 12:00 PM 111 Opera Street, Suite A 1. Roll Call of Committee Members Committee Members present: Dale Blackwelder, Nan Cameron, June Simmons, Alix Stafford, Kara Gunter, and Eli Vega. Excused: Karen Wiley. Staff: Anthony Whittington, Kathleen Fason, Hannah Rice, and Chris Baber. 2. Approval of the Agenda Nan made a motion to approve the January 10, 2023 agenda. June seconded. Motion passed. 3. Approval of the Minutes June made a motion to approve the December 13, 2022 minutes. Nan seconded. Motion passed. 4. Introduction of Guests 5. OLD BUSINESS: A. Jean W. Wallace Wetlands Trailhead Feature Updates: Anthony explained that he and Landscape Superintendent Brian Fisher had received a quote from Bennett Brothers for creation of the fountain. Height will be 6-7 ft, circumference will be 20 ft, and there will be plenty of landscaping around it. Dale suggested that concrete pads be put in place during the building of the structure to indicate where wetland animal sculpture will be placed. All agreed. Anthony said he would speak with Bennett brothers about it. B. Sculpture Installation Updates: Anthony has spoken to Public Works Director Ron Sievwright regarding the installation of the Lion and Ballerina. Greenhouse Manager Chris Baber is working on the track for the Car to be installed at Tranquility Garden. C. Public Art Plan Update: Anthony shared that it had not yet been decided. D. Fundraising Suggestions: None. 6. NEW BUSINESS: A. PowerPoint of City Trails System: Kathleen explained that she was out sick with COVID during the end of December and was unable to complete the PowerPoint. She will definitely have it ready to view at the next AAC meeting. 7. Arts Advisory Committee comments: 8. Parks & Trails Director comments: Anthony explained that his wife will be having Carpal Tunnel surgery during the week of our February meeting and so we will not meet again until March. 9.
