MINUTES PARKS & TRAILS ADVISORY COMMITTEE October 20, 2022 5:00 P.M 111 Opera Street, Suite A 1) Roll Call of Committee Members Committee Members present: Julie Nix, Samantha Christian, Rick Dwyer, Bob Reddish, Dudley Webb, Ann Kendrick and Larry Williams. P&T staff present: Anthony Whittington, Kathleen Fason and Hannah Rice 2) Approval of the Agenda Rick made a motion to approve the October 20, 2022 agenda. Dudley seconded. Motion carried unanimously. 3) Approval of the Minutes Bob made a motion to approve the September 15, 2022 minutes. Rick seconded. Motion carried unanimously. 4) Introduction of Guests: Renee Stucky 5) New Business A) Velocity Progress Report: Anthony showed photos and went over the presentation for Outdoor Recreation Grant funding the he made this month. Velocity is a finalist and a decision will be made in November. Phase 1 is moving along and we are looking at a Spring dedication date. B) HSCGT Progress: The wait for the two bridges to be delivered will push back the project to March 2023. Cate, Inc. was the low bid for the Jean W. Wallace Wetlands Trailhead and if awarded will continue work there to stay on schedule. C) Park Improvements: Anthony went over plans for Family Park improvements in 2023. A new basketball court was included in the budget request. Also, a youth zipline is planned with funding from Friends of the Parks. The Greenwood Avenue property where there is a proposed Pickleball Park was also included in the Sport Recreation proposed budget. 6) Parks & Trails Director Reports, Announcements, & Items for Discussion Anthony went over the two ordinances that were recently passed that changed the hours of operation in our city parks and along the greenway.
