107 MINUTES OF CITY COUNCIL MEETING CITY OF HUEYTOWN, ALABAMA TUESDAY, MAY 14, 2024 A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Hueytown, Alabama, was held in the Council Chamber meeting room at the Hueytown City Hall on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. 1. CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Council President Wright at 4: 30P. M. with approximately seven individuals present in the audience. P• iOVZ6114 A 1K935 The invocation was given by Council Member Hurliman. 3. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Hurliman. 4. ROLL CALL Upon Roll Call, Council Members Wright, Zinnerman, Pickens, Hurliman and Jacks being present. Mayor Stephen Ware and City Attorney Charlie Waldrep of Waldrep Stewart and Kendrick, LLP were Present. 5. MEDIA RECOGNITION: There was no media present at the meeting. 6. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Council Member Pickens made a motion followed by a second to the motion by Council Member Hurliman to approve the April 23, 2024 Pre -Council and Council Meeting and the May 7, 2024 Council Meeting minutes as previously received and thereby dispensing with reading of the minutes. Upon roll call vote, President Wright and Council Members Zinnerman, Pickens, Hurliman and Jacks voting yes. There were no nay votes. President Wright declared the minutes approved. 7. STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS a) Finance Committee:. Council Member Zinnerman, no report. b) Planning and Development Committee: Council Member Pickens, no report. c) Public Safety Committee: Council Member Hurliman, no report. d) Public Works and Parks Committee: Council Member Jacks, no report. 8. OFFICERS REPORT a) Police Department: Chief Yarbrough - no report. b) Fire Department: Chief Sullivan - no report. c) Public Works/ Street and Parks Department: Public Works Director Gant - no report. d) Building and Zoning Department: Inspector Humphries - absent. 9. BILLS FOR APPROVAL Council Member Zinnerman presented a list of bills totaling $ 655, 408. 02 and made a motion to approve the list of bills which were presented for payment followed by a second to the motion by Council Member Jacks. The motion carried unanimously. EXTEND THE FLOOR TO THE PUBLIC Prior to the extension of the floor to the public, President Wright reminds everyone wishing to address the Council to state their name and address; must be a resident of Hueytown to speak and shall limit comments to three minutes. a) Ricardo Carson at 439 Hatteras Street informs the Mayor and Council of a stopped storm drain behind his house. The Mayor informs Mr.Carson the City' s Public Works Department is ad res ing this matter. b) Terry Headley at 5293 Virginia Lane informs the Mayor and Council there continues to be problem with speeding vehicles on Virginia Lane. The Mayor directed this matter to Police Chief Yarbrough. Also, Mr. Headley spoke of drainage issues of water running across the road onto his property. Mr.Headley states he would like the ditch repaired to abate the problem. The Mayor directs Public Works Director to co rdinate a me ting with the City Engineer to resolve this issue. 11. ADJOURNMENT With no further business to come before the Council Meeting, Council Member Pickens made a motion to adjourn. Council President Wright declared the meeting adjourned at 4:36P. M..
