Fourth of July Board City of Huntington Beach Wednesday, June 5, 2019 2000 Main Street 6:00 PM - Regular Meeting Huntington Beach, CA 92648 MINUTES Room B-8, Lower Level CHRIS COLE, Staff Liaison STACEY NEWTON, Director ANDI KOWAL, Board Member PAT LOVE, Board Member KAREN PEDERSEN, Board Member LINDA VIRCKS, Board Member CHRIS YOUNG, Board Member CALL TO ORDER Vircks called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m. at which time a quorum was met. ROLL CALL Board Members: Linda Vircks, Andi Kowal, Karen Pedersen, Chris Young, Pat Love (Excused) Event Director: Stacey Newton Council Liaisons: Erik Peterson Staff Liaisons: Chris Cole Contractors: Leesha Arason, Bill Lomas Volunteers/Others: Carole Ann Wall, Floreal Taboada, Lisa Vitagliano PUBLIC COMMENTS Anyone wishing to speak during PUBLIC COMMENTS must fill out and submit a form to speak. The Fourth of July Board can take no action on this date, unless the item is agendized. Anyone wishing to speak on items not on today’s agenda, may do so during PUBLIC COMMENTS. Three (3) minutes per person; no donating of time to others. Stephanie Erickson voiced her concern that Oak View Chinelos do not comply with parade rule #3 and provided verbal examples of her concerns. Ms. Erickson also provided handout to Board Members which she feels support her concern. CONSENT CALENDAR Approval of Minutes Pederson moved, Kowal second the motion to approve the meeting minutes dated May 1, 2019 This agenda item was adopted. ADMINISTRATIVE ITEMS 1. Discussion of Celebration Events Page 1 of 3 Fourth of July Board MINUTES June 5, 2019 a. Karen Pedersen - Shirts are now available in HB Albertsons/Vons. b. Chris Young - Will be working with Lisa Marie on the Home Decorating Contest. Judging will be on July 2 c. Andi Kowal - Entertainment Schedule is almost complete. d. Stacey Newton - Parking passes and tickets will be passed out next meeting. The Bash invites are out, awards are ordered and details are coming together. Updated Board on radios, carts and parade entries. MEMBER COMMENTS Chris Cole reported that water barricades will be installed this year for safety and protection of the public. Police Department staff detailed the placement of the barricade along the parade route and for street closures.
